I’ve always had a thing for pocket watches. They are reminiscent of earlier times, have a certain innate character that I think just makes everything a little more interesting. I own more than one of Fred's Blown Away pocket watches and they're awesome! I recently pre-ordered a pocket watch collector's edition from Joao Miranda. It can accomplish the effect mentioned at the start of this thread and if you're familiar with his wrist watch version you know what the pocket watch is about. I like the look and functionality of the time piece but one of the best things is that only 50 pieces will ever be made, which means this unique item will not be in everyone’s hands.

The Penny Dreadful Detective effect from Taylor Imagineering employs a pocket watch--both for the time and as a pendulum. I really like the watch that comes with the kit.

I have one of Fred Hagers regular (non pocketwatch) watches and can only highly recommend him for both his products and stellar customer service!

I like setting the pocket watch to a particular time (e.g. 12 minutes past 6), which in military time 18:12 (which is also a year), so the ambiguity of the number can play to your performance advantage.
I then do an 'a** a *um*er' to get to the target number, ask the audience to discuss the meaning of the number, and then reveal the watch.... Feel free to PM for more details... |
