I finally got my Thomas Wayne wand in the mail yesterday and well worth the $325 I paid for it. I chose the same wand Thomas made for Bill Malone (Eric DeCamps also later ordered one). Beautiful cocobolo shaft and ebony ferrules separated on each end by small ebony spacers flanked by real gold rings and decorated around with ivory inlays of theater masks. Absolutely gorgeous. The wand is sectional but so smooth at the joint. I was hesistant to spend that much money on a wand but on seeing it and holding it in my hand, I have no regrets. Thanks, Thomas.
P.S. Thomas, please retire this design so it can be exclusive. |

I am looking for a wand, think it might have been Jay Scott Berry who used to make them out of tiny mirror-looking pieces. He used to make wands, appearing swords out of this stuff. Can anyone help???
It's not the size of the wand,
but the magic in it ! |

I just received a custom made wand from Thomas Wayne as well. I've got to say that living only seven minutes away from the Magic Castle has given me the opportunity of seeing a lot of magic wands. Some of them have been quite nice. However, if you're looking for the best that money can buy, then you'll want to look up Thomas Wayne and Joe Porper.
The wand that I have is made of ebony (not wood that's painted black) and has silver ferrules with two gold rings at either end. It screws together at the middle like a pool cue. This makes it very convenient to carry in your inner breast pocket if you so desire. The wand came with a nice leather case lined with fine European billiard cloth to protect the finish. The wand is perfectly balanced and I've been having a lot of fun with the wand spins. Thomas Wayne can be reached at: twcues@ptialaska.net I'm sorry that I don't know how to reach Joe Porper. I've seen some of his beautiful wands, although I've never had the chance to actually hold one. I do know that if one purchases a set of cups through Bob Kohler, the cups come with a matching Porper wand. Happy Shopping! |

Joe Porper does make great wands. I own five of them. Two are particularly beautiful.
One has the classic wand look with black ebony shaft and real ivory white ferrules; small "dot" pattern spacers are used at each end of the shaft and at the stainless steel center divider to add that extra artistic touch. The other wand has a swirling pattern of beige, green, and red in the shaft created by exotic California buckeye burl and ebony ferrules complement the ends; copper rings and ebony spacers border the solid copper center. All Porper wands are sectional and all come in a leather zippered case lined inside with billiard cloth. Each section of the wand is cradled in its own compartment. Prices average around $175 to $200 but may be more for the more elaborate wands. Images of the two wands I described are available. PM me with your e-mail address. Joe's company "Creative Inventions" is located in Chatsworth, CA, and can be found online. His e-mail address is: porperprods@earthlink.net Shamrock is back in business!! Apparently, several misfortunes in the family and in his personal life led to Mike Gates quitting the business. This left several persons, myself included, with having paid for wands that were not delivered. Read the above posts. I saw last week that Shamrock was again selling wands through ebay so I contacted Mike about my outstanding custom order from November of last year. He promptly answered my e-mail, simultaneously refunded over 40% of my purchase price through PayPal and had the wand at my door step within five days. |

I sell wands made by my friend John Ransom. The standard wand is coca bola with yellowheart tips, and sells for $25. You can see it on my website. It comes in 13" stage size and 9" close up size. Other woods also available. This is an expensive but nice wand made with quality materials. However, if you want really nice, expensive, beautiful wands with all the "fixin's" you can't go wrong with Thomas.

I admire you guys wanting to show the good stuff. It has just not worked well for me on stage. Some how I keep ending up using my plastic ones from Supreme's color changing wand set. And I have a sweater box loaded with pretty wands I have collected for over forty years that just don't get into the routine. Maybe that's why artists say I have no soul. Lead me! They do look great.

This is where I got my cocobolo wand from. It had so many knots in the wood that the shaft of the wand looks amazing. I actually paid almost $100 for it, and would have gone higher if I had to.

I just got my second wand from Roy Kueppers. Ebony with silver at the joint. It is a two-piece wand. His work is gorgeous and still half the price of the "big guys."
My highest recommendation. And if you want a classy ring on stick, he makes the best. Bill |

If you would like a truly fine wand in the movie Harry Potter style, I recommend Alivan Wandmakers.

I am posting it here, but since my question is also somewhat independent I am going to start it's own thread in a different section of the forum. However I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here.
I do some wood working and have no problem turning out my own wands, however I am trying not to get into the hobby of metal working. That being said I am having trouble tracking down the metal tips to wands. I would really like to know where I could buy just the metal tips for the wands. I called Joe Porper's company to ask about ordering just the tips and got a less than spectacular response. Any ideas?
