Does anyone have any information on this? I saw it at Hocus Pocus.
One of the most OUTSTANDING mental effects to come along in many, many years. Twelve years ago in 1995 an alleged voodoo priest showed tricks in one of Europe’s most popular television shows. Some weeks later the methods of these tricks were explained to millions of viewers. A magician had given away the secret of the thumb writer to the producers of the TV show for a few bucks and for his own image-cultivation. By demonstrating the voodoo priest's tricks, a well guarded magic secret was explained in detail to millions of spectators. Werry was upset about this exposure. Being one of the leading trick inventors in Europe he came up with a totally new concept for a well known voodoo theme. With this new principle, he was able to blow away even those who thought they knew it all... Only a very small limited number of this trick was manufactured in those days. Now after nearly two decades, Werry’s Voodoo I is available again! A member of the audience examines a sketchpad and a felt-tip pen. The spectator is then asked to write his name in large letters across the top sheet of the pad. This sheet is torn into two pieces. One of the pieces is given to the member of the audience, who crumples it up and holds it in his closed hand. The magician draws for example a large eye on the second half and crumples it up as well. As if by voodoo magic, the image the magician drew on his paper appears on the backside of the half that the audience member is holding! Lovers of ingenious mysteries will delight at this effect from that Maestro of Deception – Werry! Werry’s method differs fundamentally from the earlier dilettante performances, standard magical techniques and the so-called voodoo priests. Werry’s concept is a mental masterpiece, designed to become a classic! The advantages of Werry's method: * No Swami gimmick or thumb/nail/boon writer are used! * You don't need a secret stooge. * The marked paper does not have to be switched! * Only one sheet of paper is used! * You do not have to write something secretly while performing! * No, there is no duplication writer or carbon paper involved! * The drawing that appears on the spectator's paper is clearly drawn with a felt tip pen! * Any drawing, word or number can appear on the spectator’s paper! Werry’s Voodoo I comes complete with the special notepad, gimmick and detailed instructions. |

Sounds like it might be a clever use of the OTL principle. Just a guess really.

No, not avoiding, waiting for it to arrive in my case.

Just got mine yesterday. Packaging is very attractive. Box content of Normal Note pad, some plastic plate , rubber band, and glue stick. That what all you got. You have to set up the pad by youself for every performance. I never tried so can not say whether this trick is good or not.

Yo indomagic. Is dat a one time set up for every performace or you have to set up before every performace? I would be glad if you can put up an honest review after using it, thanks.

OK, here is my review. I have not performed this yet, just done some practice on it and thinking around the premise and subtleties.
You receive what Indoman said, nice box, notepad paper (apparently this is thick paper selected for the purpose), a pair of rectangular 'plates' (not used in performance), glue stick and rubber band. The Preparation must be done before each performance and you cannot prepare multiples as this takes a away the post effect examinability which would detract from the effect IMHO. The reset will take a few minutes so it is not a conveniently repeatable effect in that regard. The method while not being particularly groundbreaking is certainly direct and seems deceptive from my inital impressions. I can imagine it may receive criticism for being overly simple but I think it is probably the most suitable method as it is uncomplicated and leaves everthing innocent at the end. There are some important 'observations' that the spectator must make during the performance for the effect to take root in their mind and have impact. The presentation is going to need to be mainly be constructed with the prupose of getting certain conditions noticed and re-inforced in a subtle way. Performance is the only way to tell more of course. Overall, while this is not an effect that I would rave about (although I haven't performed it yet so maybe I will be surprised by the reactions) I do think it will be deceptive providing the presentation builds the conditions correctly. The impact will be up to the performer to create through deciding precisely what the effect represents for them. It could be considered a utility device as there would be many possible applications. I give it 7.5/10 Cheers, Al Straker

You are welcome old chaps. Tony, Fred Paisa please tell us what you think when you receive it (if you other guys get it) and have a chance to mess around with it. After performing a couple of times, I am getting some value from it. In a way, I initially thought it was a disadvantage that the Voodoo drawing that appears is not on the same side as the signature so I have made them do a BIG signature as a way of eliminating that side for the drawing phase. So now it is logical that the drawings are on the opposite side. I also let them "choose???" what to draw, this really added to the reactions when I first used it so I am exploring this a little more. I have also thought of going one step further somehow but not sure yet how best to do that. I thought about using Fuse or some other paper/ink/fire type effect to punctuate the Voodoo effect which is a bit more subtle.
Cheers, Al
