There is a torn and restored card preveiw on the DVD - the best one I have witnessed.
Forgery however is NOT a Torn and Restored card routine, although it could be used as part of a TAR routine. ( the DVD does not cover any Torn and Restored methods ). |

I already know about Seamless, and it is a great idea. I am just wondering about the possibilites with Forgery.

I don't really see what you would use it for with a T&R.

Boy, am I glad you changed your demo video! The one on HP's site is waaaayyyy too "fancy". Give me a static shot demo any day. Your new one has me convinced to give the effect a try.

Thanks mate. Yeah, the "flashy" demo was done to follow the "flashy" demo trend that is out and about right now.
I wanted to do a straight shot one, and now there is one, lol. I am quite pleased with it. Glad you like it. Also, keep in mind that it is only one of three effect son the DVD included. Glenn

I see in the video that jumbo index cards are used, can it be done with regular Bicycle cards?

Honestly, no. The gimmick is designed for Jumbos. Mind you, they have a lot of advantages, and I tend to use them more than regular indexed cards.
They are very clear, if you are performing for more than one person they are great as everyone can see without a doubt what the card is. There is always roome for cards to be signed, again, clearly, so there is no mistaking the signature. Not just for this trick of course, but for any signed card trick. Also, Jumbo indexed cards are VERY common now. Expecially with the popularity of Texas Hold 'em, Jumbo indexed cards are everywhere on TV with poker, and in all the casinos. Also, remember that regular Bikes are only "normal" to magicians. Walk up to anyone who is playing cards and you will find a variety of decks. No one (including magicians when I perform for them) ever sees jumbo's as out of place. Now flashy black, or florecently coloured cards, or clear cards are unique and draw attention to themselves, lol.

Copied from the forum at kwmagic.com ( with permision )
Greetings, On a recent visit to my magic store, I was shown a couple of effects from a package called "Glenn West's Forgery." To say that I was astonished would be a gross understatement. The purchase was a no-brainer, and I was amazed at how easy the effects are to do once you know how the system works. I started off learning the "Signing Off" effect from the package, which didn't take very long. Mr. West conveys the methods very clearly and the practice sessions make it even better. I've been having so much fun performing "Signing Off" that I haven't had the time to practice the other effects yet. Many of the people who have seen me perform it are shocked and extremely interested in how it is done. I always use the standard "If I tell you, I will have to kill you" response. The amazing thing is that half of them would probably pay that price! I am glad that Glenn West made "Forgery" available to other magicians... it is definitely one effect that will be at the forefront of my repertoire for a very long time to come. |

A full review will be posted tomorrow in the review section as well as here. I just received it, watched the DVD,which is really nothing more than the workings of the effect and now it is time to play. I will say this much so far. The concept is fantastic and the overall idea is really great thinking.

Hey Sick, looking forward to your review. Perhaps in the review thread, now that this is actually avaliable. ( It is my understanding that this forum is more for up and coming effects. Yes, now?)
Hey Phil, where is that on the KW site? Glenn

Real Review! I received my package today, the packaging was cool, not that it matters I only cared about the content and the effect.
I will break it down in many aspects. First the quality of the DVD Well it isn't L and L publishing or cutting edge DVD authoring, however the content in the DVD is really valuable and will help along the way of working the effects. The DVD if you ask me is really just a tool to aid in the following process and nothing more so the quality is not really an issue. Glen goes over every little detail including how to make more gimmicks. So I decided to take the plunge and make the gimmick along side with the instruction on the DVD. Easy as pie only took about 15 minutes or so and that included a quick phone call that got in the way. The gimmick is clean and easy to make as well as nearly invisible. I say nearly because Glen goes over all possible situations to fix the very very small possibility if it is not invisible. I really mean small possibility. The effects are top rated and for a seasoned pro, easily mastered, however for a beginner in magic it will take a bit of time to get the handling down to perfection. I have been doing magic for over 20 years and I practiced for a little over a hour or so just on one effect (Signed off) and when I got home this evening I showed my wife. Well we all know that the wife is tired of magic, however watching her eyes pop was a great feeling. I am going to La for work tomorrow and this will be included for a real run in front of some tough critics. The value of this gimmick and trick is really were you can go with it. You are not limited to the few tricks that Glenn teaches; in fact I emailed Glenn and told him my brain is fried from several routine ideas and thoughts I had on this product. There are a couple of bonuses one of them is just Glenn goofing off doing some one handed cut stuff (Easter eggs)...It is very casual and funny to watch as it seems Like he was bored and they were filming it. LOL Then I very rarely will say things like this because usually the creator of an effect will perform the effect better than anyone else. In this case a guy I believe his name is Criss performed his version of Forgery...OMG Even though I already watched the DVD played with it and practice for a while, made a gimmick myself this guy fried me. His handling made sense and was completely logical. The only thing that bothered me with his version was something he did from a performance stance. He had what I would call the sway addiction; he had a hard time standing his ground while doing the effect and swayed back and forth. It is a habit my first magic teacher told me to break and break fast because that is what will set you apart from the rest. I want to stress the fact that the DVD quality is not good, but the material in it is fantastic and well worth every penny. I believe I am the second guy in the U.S.A to receive this and I glad that I paid the extra shipping and handling and I glad that I have a new tool that will be effective in my card work. The highlight of the whole thing was actually seeing Glen perform seamless again. It has been a while since I have seen him do this and I was totally surprised at how much cleaner it looks a few years later. I have the original version of seamless and perform it on and off depending on my performance situation. It is probably the best Torn and Restored card I have ever done or seen. This should be in every card workers act, this is something that is very clever very visual and something that will only add to your magic even if you don't use the effects on the DVD there is a whole lot you can do with this. I would give this a solid 10 if the DVD was high quality, however since the DVD has a few glitches (nothing major or effect the learning process) and the quality was not very good...I AM GIVING THIS a SOLID 9 out of a possible 10. Hope this helps you all make a decision since there has been a lot of talk or hype about this effect. I am telling you how I feel from someone who works and does magic for a living. This is a great effect and worth every penny! P.S. I am posting this in the review section as well! |

Just to let you guys know, I will be at Kind of Magic on June 14 between 11 AM and 1 PM to demo Forgery for anyone insterested. It is a time during the CAM convention that looks to not be too busy, so I am planning on sneaking away for a bit to do this;)
Like I said, at this point in the Convention, there is not anything schedualed, out side of dealer's room being open I believe. Hope to see some of you guys there. Thanks Glenn
