Heya. Still ironing out the newbie-creases, but I think this is the most appropriate place to ask the question.
Are there existing products on the market consisting of flash cards depicting elaborate, non-abstract pictures that can be succinctly described? The closest example I can think of is drawn from the movie Constantine, where in order to gain admittance to an exclusive bar, the protagonist has to divine what's shown on a card held by the bouncer. The cards show (in a 14th century woodcut-style) images such as two frogs on a bench, two ducks on a cloud, a bird on a ladder, etc. Something easily described but which wouldn't simply be guessed. I'm basically looking to see if there are any existing props on the market that are similar to this, or if I'll have to get my own printed. Cheers. Rikk |

Hi Rikk,
I use such things from time to time and have had to make my own. You can have them printed on photo paper if you make them in PhotoShop and take them to the Wal-Mart they will print them out in an hour for 11 or 15 cents a print. You can also use the home printer and get a cutter and corner rounder at the craft or art store to cut them out and make them look nice. J ack H.O.A-X

I saw the movie constantine and at the time thought that it would be anamazing mind reading effect but I suppose I just forgot about it. Maybe worth looking into again. I like Jack's suggestion of making your own. THat way you can control whats on there so you can get the spectator to tell you what the design is.

I had a plan of coming up with a deck along the same lines, with 52 cards of animals on various props (two bears on a bicycle, a horse on a boat, two cats on a swing, etc.), and having a simple system based on the animal and its activity which associates each card with a playing card. That way you can migrate pretty much any card trick, pending suitability, to this much more intimidating and seemingly more random deck.
I've found "two bears on a bicycle" to be a shockingly effective psych force, but when I draw them they look like rats. Rikk |
