Well my lung decided to collapse again. So I just had another tube insterted into my chest. This time it was by the actual doctor, not the guy in training like last time. So she inserted the tube and it was practically painless and took about 1/4 the time. She was very beautiful as well, it takes a lot to make scrubs look sexy lol. Who wouldn't want a hot doctor to insert a bic pen size tube into their chest cavity? I guess her being experienced helped in the procedure as well lol.
They say if my lung doesn't stick this time they may have to resort to something called pleurodesis. Wikipedia Chemical pleurodesis is the injection of a chemical irritant that triggers an inflammatory reaction, leading to adhesion of the lung to the parietal pleura. Substances used for pleurodesis include talc, blood, tetracycline and bleomycin. Mechanical pleurodesis does not use chemicals. The surgeon "roughs" up the inside chest wall so the lung attaches to the wall with scar tissue. This can also include a pleurectomy, which is the removal of the pleural lining around the lung. Both operations can be performed using keyhole surgery to minimise discomfort to the patient. I hope it is via chemical lol. And a comforting shot glass amount of fluid drained out of my chest this morning as well. Not to mention 17 blasts of radiation to my chest in the last 2 weeks.

They say the cause is "spontaneous" and that people with my build, tall, thin and in their 20s can be prone to this sort of thing.

Joey, thank you. I now have a good reason to be thankful I'm fat and over 50.

Spontaneous pneumothorax ,because ur tall, thin, and 20, hmmmm, Never heard of that before, got to look it up. Only thing I've ever seen that sort of thing occur in a 20 year old is in the case of Cystic Fibrosis. Now if you said you were 50+, COPD, I'd say, yup, spontaneous pneumothorax. The tube should do the job, may not have been placed well the first time, and they simply may have discontinued it too early, always possible. Get better dude!

It's not the pressure feeling in my chest from the tube, it isn't the fluid draining out of the tube, it isn't the pain when taking deep breaths, it isn't the horrible discomfort when attempting to sleep... it's how freaking itchy it is where the tube goes in that is bothering me lol.

What's worse is when it's an itch you can't scratch. No relief in sight!
