I am thinking of purchasing The Professor's version of Expert at the Card Table but have a few questions.
1. How much is it worth (preferably answered in terms of USD, but I'll run a currency conversion if necessary)? How much is it worth if it was signed by Dai himself, or are all of them signed by him? How much is the limited edition worth? 2. How much worth is contained within Dai's commentaries? 3. I have noticed that there are different versions of this, included a limited edition; what is special about the limited edition? Might I add that the only reason I am asking question #1 is so that I do not get ripped off when I decide to buy this and pay 2 grand for a 500 dollar book. Thank you for taking the time to read this, ~Magically Dave P.S. Sorry if this was asked before, but I found nothing on the subject in the first 20 search page results... |

From what I've seen on ebay, it goes for around $190-250. I would say that's a good price.

Buy it if you are a collector. In which case, only get the signed and numbered edition.
If you are buying it as a magician to learn Vernon's inner thoughts on his "Bible", you will be very disappointed. Most of the meat was trimmed off because Vernon's students at the time did not want him to share this information. So don’t expect to get much Vernon comments. It’s basically an oversized reprint of the EATCT with a few (very few) Vernon notes. There is even talk of a reprint in the works. Hopefully it will include all of the missing information now that one of Vernon’s very close students pasted away. I heard that he was holding back tons of Vernon info. I would recommend Darwin Ortiz's Annotated Erdnase instead. |

Apparently the reprint will be expanded with extra annotations etc.
Just think: Annotated Variations. |

Thank you very much! I am thinking of getting Revelations as a collectors item and getting another version for learning from...someday, as I just purchased Revelations (DVD), Commercial Classics, and a Signed, numbered, limited edition of Revelations (book) so my wallet is running pretty dry right now.
Just to make sure though, as I do not know if I was over or underpriced, is $300 for Revelations reasonable? I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't overprice me, but I really do think he ripped himself off. Thank you for your help and time, ~Magically Dave |

It depends if YOU think it's worth that much.
I think it's being reprinted, so I won't ever bother to pay that much.

From these notebooks came the material that filled five books of Cervon's own magic and three volumes of The Vernon Chronicles. But this wasn't even the tip of the iceberg. The Castle Notebooks contained the material Bruce planned to include in future volumes onVernon and himself, as well as copious information on card cheating methods (much of it relayed through Vernon), unpublished material gathered from many of magic's luminaries, and Bruce's own professional routines. The quantity and quality of this material is staggering, cramming over 1500 notebook pages." I suppose the ultimate "collectible" version of Revelations is owned, I believe, by Persi Diaconis. I'm told that he took one of the first copies printed to show Marlo. Marlo made annotations on Vernon's annotations in the margins. Then Diaconis took the book back and showed Vernon, who made annotations on Marlo's annotations on his annotations.
Now that's a collectible! - entity

There are basically 2 versions of the book:
Regular edition - Lukenp gave you price for this. Limited edition - I forget about how many there are of these (probably 100-150)and this has an insert and is signed by vernon. Goes for about $5-600. |
