I saw Bob Kohler at a convention in Tucson a couple of weekends ago and he's a killer with coins. Very natural technique.

I agree Geoff, Bob Kohler did a couple of beautiful coin routines in England, with some effortless moves.
In no particular order: Gary Kurtz, Jay Sankey, David Stone who really made my jaw drop when I first saw their coin stuff and still do in fact. Groovy |

We'll be putting out a series of videos in the summer that deal with his Matrix effects, coins across, purse frame and his applications to the muscle pass. He has been leaving the crowds at the Castle open-mouthed with awe. I'll also second Reed McClintock who killed me for an entire night with his coin work. Apollo is also a great coin worker. I do love a lot of Sankey's thinking with coins. Greg

No list that fails to include Andrew Goldenhersh could remotely be considered complete.

In addition to those already mentioned, from a student of coin magic standpoint I have to include Dan Watkins and Doug Brewer.

When Einstein said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, he must not have attempted coin and card manipulations...or am I truly insane?

My wife Esther (the photographer for my book) has seen many coin magicians over the years. Her favorite is Dean Dill. She loves his work "cause he's so smooth." Sounds like a vote for Santana too.

I think guys like Al Schneider and Steve Dusheck have also made tremendous contributions in this area...Also, I've seen that guy Tommy Wonder do some incredible stuff with coins, but he's a lot more than just spare change.

Ooops! I forgot to mention my "favorite" coin worker...I have a few, but in realtime here, I think Mickey Silver is unbelievable, doing something that's quite a bit different than most.

The mix & match of guys are interesting here. Old guys with new guys, new guys with older guys, enthusiasts/hobbyists with professionals, those that have done a little with those that have done a lot, etc... For example, doubt if any of the recognized icons would include Sankey (and some others) amongst their ilk, but many here do. To each his own, and all are good in their own ways really, but I would never think of putting Kurtz and Sankey even in the same sentence when it came to coin magic, in the way of levels. But the word "Favorite" here is key, and does not bring into play necessarily good, better, best. And perhaps that's the way it should be, in magic, in life. Good to see that there is room for all...And in that, "Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day" to all. -MB
