Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would add a little review although these DVD's clearly speak for themselves. For someone who is getting more and more into stand up cabaret magic, these DVD's are invaluable. Firstly Mel has a great character that plays really well with his audiences. His comedy material fits "Perfectly" with this persona as well. I REALLY enjoyed just watching him perform which always tells me that I am going to get something from a DVD. Secondly the material is great. I base a DVD on the amount of stuff that I would use straight away, and from the word go there were things that I would add straight into my act. I think people now know that when you buy an RSVP magic product, you know its going to be an EXCELLENTLY produced product, and this one is no exception. The footage is well shot, the explanations are clear and its just a good quality project all round. Congratulations to both Mel and Russ. |

VOL 2 is fantastic.
I'm so using some of that stuff. definately the holiday routine and hopefully some of the others. I probably wouldn't use the material on the first DVD but I might get it just for the entertainment value. |

Does anyone know where one might purchase a note pad like the one he uses in Shirt Prediction?

It's the Vernet version. From your favourite dealer, it's pretty common. Ask for Vernet "Add a Number" pad.

Started to ask around and could not find a Vernet Add A Number pad anywhere. I did find an "O’Connell Mentalist Pad" which I believe is the same thing.

Hi!
We used to get the Vernet Switch pad from Murphy's but they have discontinued it for some reason. The O Connell Pad is still available though, but is more expensive. It works the same way as the Vernet one. Best wishes Mike Danata |

There is a "Horwitz Add-a-Number Pad" on the hocus pocus web site. Just perform a search for it.

I personally disagree with most said here and I didn't like this set much or hardly at all.
I wont go into heavy details cos to most readers it wont matter why I think this way, and they would just start bashing me on having only opposite opinion among otherwise positive reviews. Shortly I just feel that average magician allready knows all the tricks and routines from here, or even has much better versions of em. Also the humor isn't suitable to most either and it isn't really possible to even copy the performances, that these days sadly seems to be so common among magicians. It would work only IF you had a real character whose persona is similar to Mellers, cos material is occasionally rather low and someone said it earlier even dirty. J-M |

Hello all!
It was about last week when I asked here at the Café where to buy the Mel Mellers DVD's from. There was a very quick answer from Russ Stevens, the producer of the DVD's. He also got in contact with me via pm because I had a few questions. Everyone was answered right away! I ordered the DVD's last Tuesday/Wednsday to my current address in Germany and they arrived already today without an additional shipping cost!! What a great service! I can highly recommend www.rsvpmagic.com/index.html ! I got all 3 DVD's and I must say that they are worth every penny! The material itself is filmed in high quality, one of the best I saw so far! As already mentioned, Mel Mellers is one of a kind with the right humor for getting the crowd on his side. His jokes and gags are of the finest and so is his magic as well as the teaching. I don't want to go into a deep review because a lot of things are already mentioned, but if you look for material for your own Magic and/or Mentalism Show you will get so much out of it! You get coin magic, booktests, ropetricks, money mysteries, blindfold routine and a lot of Mindreading! Again, I like to give my best regards to Russ Stevens and Mel Mellers for giving us this great chance to watch a real Pro perform and teach the finest in magic! All The Best, Jarod

The Mind Reading Duck has caused some controversy (it is remarkably similar to Steve Spill's routine), and Undiscovered Wonder in general is not up to Tickling the Mind, but both parts of that one are absolutely excellent. This may be the best single example of comedy character magician (perhaps along with Jeff Hobson), I can think of. The sarcastic, insulting, "holier than thou" approach of Mellers is a fantastic persona.

The Vernet Wallet for the "Add A Number" effect from Mel's DVD was mentioned. Is there any magic dealer out there who is still selling it?
Mel mentioned that he bought it in Argentina, but I will not be there in the near future Cheers, Jarod
