Lee Asher's Diving Board Double can be done one handed. it takes quite a bit of practice to hit two with your thumb every time though

Just as an extra anecdote, if you want to use a thumb count, work on it to where you don't bend the cards hardly at all, as most people do (which is a dead giveaway).
It's a nice point expressed in "The Hollywood Double Lift," which is not a bad read. The entire process itself makes for a too-contrived lift, but the nuances covered are great to apply to your regular lifts. |

I found it pretty hard to master, in fact I spent all Christmas break practicing (I had four-weeks!). Toward the end of the holiday I had the pinky count down pat, probably not mastered, but enough to use it effectively with some mis-direction. I am happy that I spent the time to learn it - the method I used was doing 10 to 15 minute exercise blocks on the Pinky Count a few times a day. I plan to try the same regime for the classic pass. Last time I was in my preferred magic store I asked about Double Take by Wilson, but was referred to one of Ammar's ETMCM. I am happy the the DVD recommended, but may revisit buying Double Take after reading some of these posts. cheers |

Hi folks. This may sound terribly simple-minded against the background of all the detailed answers to this query, but the easiest and most straightforward DL I know, and do regularly, is to find a motivation to remove the top card and make reference to it -David Regal says "This is my favorite card."- and then just push off the now-top card and get a pinky break under its inner right corner. Replace the top card over the card with the break under it, and just turn them both over as a page in a book. Doc Eason uses this too.
This is better for some tricks than others: e.g. it's perfect for Anniversary Waltz. Alan |

If you use Alan's method, look up Harvey Rosenthal's get ready move.
In Greg Wilson's Card Stunt video - and many other places I assume. |

I think the best methods are:
1 - Get-ready with pinky count, then a Vernon push-over double lift 2 - A thumb-count get-ready - I'm not sure who's double this is, but if done well, looks great 3 - Two card pushover, like push off 2nd deal I've never seen a strike double look good - and I've never seen a lay person turn a card over that way. They always look hokey. 2 handed get-ready's are weak. The two card pushover (then pull-back for break) can work if proper misdirection is used, but it is usually a big tell. |
