I've been reading the archives about people's coin preferences, and checking these out on eBay.
So far I've only been working with plain Kennedy halves. I want to get started on a 3 Fly. Are Eisenhowers too big? I know what the different coins look like (Morgans, Barbers, Liberty's) but I don't have a feel for their size comparisons. What should I be using and what are the cheapest ways to go? |

While visually dollar size coins look best for routines like 3 Fly they're a bit too big for me to handle comfortably in a lot of routines.
Eisenhowers would be the least expensive. Have a look here: http://tinyurl.com/2zabub For coin sizes, check here: http://www.air-tites.com/ATsizechart.htm As a hobbyist, Kennedy halves are fine, the 'accessories' are easiest to come by and least costly. |

Thanks for the chart...perfect.
So you don't think Kennedy's are too small for a 3 Fly? |

I use to use 64 kenns then changed to morgan dollars ,i prefer them and use them now for all my routines .If you practice enough dollars are not that hard to use .I don't have very big hands and can use dollars just as good so I would say hand size isen't really an issue .Just my dollars worth.

Great chart but I wouldn't mind one comparing common day coins e.g UK 10pence, 2pence, 2 pound etc... with American sizes. Anyone know where I can find this data?

If you are going to play in the Big leagues, you must use BIG coins.

I use dollars. Mainly because the dollar was the only coin I could backpalm. Now I find halves awkward to handle.
However, I know some big leaguers who use halves.

In the 70's I started out with small coins.(due to small hands.)
Now I use (from) USA sized Dimes to Morgans. I actually use a line in my programs..(Real Men use Silver Morgan's) Then I go into a 2 coin size boxes routine..(Morgans in my right hand/Dollar Coin Box..Liberty)Half dollar coin box) in my right hand... I like to use what nobody else uses. Ya, its a little pricey if I need something special. But its worth it. You just have to have a reason for the different coins.
"theres a lot of good card magic in that book, unfortunately you have to have skill to do most of it."
