I'm interested in buying a tuxedo for my dove act.
Where can I find a good seller? |

First thing is to buy a tuxedo. There is nothing special about a dove tuxedo than any other. You need to buy the jacket or coat at least one size larger than you normally wear, and possibly 2 sizes larger depending on how many doves you plan on producing. Have shoulder pads sewn into it to keep it at the same height before and after your act.
Next step is to get dove pockets. You can get them from Andy Amyx, Tony Clark, General Grant to name a few. You can also make your own. They are a rectangular shaped pocket made of slick material. Sew these into the jacket at locations where you want to place your doves, and usually at a slightly upward angle.

I never really understood how to sew your pockets into your jacket. Are you supposed to rip open the seam where the jacket material and satin inside come together, and then only sew the pockets to the satin, and then stitch the jacket back together, or what?
Thanks, -Vinnie |

Vinnie, how did you put the pocket in your jacket for your IDHs? It's the same thing. If you are handy with a needle, just position the pocket where you want it. You sew the pocket directly to the satin lining up the back, across the top and about a third of the way down on the inside of the pocket. You don't have to rip your jacket apart. A tailor would probably do it that way, but then he knows what he's doing. If you use multiple pockets on one side, you sew the second pocket the same way, just position it half way under the first so they overlap.
There's an easy way to fasten your pockets in if you don't want to sew. Just pin the pocket in place. Usually, a few pins across the top and one at the back. Pin it to the lining.

OHHHHHHH. LOL I thought pros sewed them in with sewing machines, not a needle and thread. LOL OK, problem solved.
And I just safety pinned my pocket into my jacket. Thanks, Dave! -Vinnie |

I always use the guideline of "KISS" (keep it simple, stupid). You could have the pockets professionally sewn in if you want, and I've even seen a few guys put them in with Velcro. The pinning method is good if you don't always do the dove act and only have one suit.

If you take your jacket to a tailor, they can sew the pockets in place to your specs..

That's true, but if you're a little handy with a needle and thread, you can save a lot of money doing it yourself.
