Nother question... What magician has probably the greatest pass? in your opinion.

None of them and all of them... a pass is to ones liking and should only be done in the prime moment of misdirection. Some claim to have a 100% fool proof pass that has no angles.. but... I am sorry, that is so untrue.... I have seen many good passes...
I do one that was put out in manuscript form... Luke Dancy's Shadow Pass. Bill Malone does a great pass with a really nice misdirecting move. Simon Lovell has a good pass as well.... I would suggest looking around and seeing which one fits you.. and if all else fails go with the classic.... Classic Pass that is! ENIGMA!
You got to stand for something or you will fall for anything .... unless you are tired and you need to lay down or at least sit down then it is ok not to stand, my own opinion of course.

James Swain's pass is fantastic as are the passes of Jerry Sadowitz and Peter Duffie (riffle passes).
Enigma, you say you picked up a manuscript on Luke Dancy's shadow pass. I was waiting for the manuscript on passes from the two Andy's and Luke Dancy. Is Luke's available in a separate manuscript? Thanks. |

Rumor has it Howie Schwartzman's pass was COMPLETELY invisible. I have several friends that actually witnessed Howie in action and they had no CLUE that anything had taken place.
There was no riffle for cover. No misdirection. No nothing. Pure magic.

I did not pick up the manuscript I just mentioned it was out.. as for being re-released I am not sure.. Luke taught it to me himself. Other than that, you would have to reach Luke about it.

The best with the Classic pass (and MANY of the top "passers" would agree with me on this) is Bill Kalush.

I like the Shadow pass, I bought the manuscript and it's great.
But if you wanna see an awesome pass you have to see Dorian's Pass. I don't know what it's called but it will blow your mind. There is nothing to see. You will feel like you have been drinking or not paying attention when it is witnessed by you. your head will scream what is going on. I recently learned the circle shift with some help from Dorian. It's great. |

Since so many have asked about it, I'm sure Steve won't mind me mentioning that the Pass booklet containing Luke's Shaddow Pass (as well as a couple of other passes) is almost finished. We're just running through everything to make sure it's perfect and we'll hopefully be accepting pre-orders by the middle of next month.

Someone recently showed me what they called a cover pass. It keeps the top card in place.
Anyone familar with this? Is this move attributable to someone? Thanks --Kris |

Ellis Stanyon first published this in 1902. I know it's on Kaufman's video "On the Pass," and in the book, "Darwin Ortiz at the Card Table." It's a fairly well known pass.

When I lectured at Denny & Lee's this past fall, I spent a number of hours with Howie Schwarzman and his pass is still incredible. He probably gets my vote.

Ken Krenzel has an unbelievable pass as well.
I believe he mentioned in his Pass Video that he worked with Howie Schwarzman extensively on the pass.

The passes I do, the spread, the classic & I guess it is a version of the cover pass, are average at best, but honestly, I am not aware of ever being caught by a layman.
As far as magicians go I don't care if they burn me their not my target audience. I just make sure that I do the movement, not neccesarily with any misdirection but in the down beat. The reason I say a version of the cover pass is, because no one ever showed it to me, nor have I ever read about it before, I was just playing around one day & realized that, hey this can work & while talking to someone they told me what it is a form of. |

Harvey Rosenthals "square up pass" is about as good as a pass needs to be. It is absolutely invisible.

I am totally unaware of any other form it is put out in ...however, the original manuscript I am sure is out of print. Enigma
