Imagine taking a 42-block taxi ride in New York City and winning $3,000 cash along the way.
Three physics professors did so on last night's show. Cash Cab is a game show on the Discovery Channel. The host drives a minivan taxi in New York City. When people get in he explains the rules: they'll win money for correctly answering general-knowledge questions along the way, but if they get three wrong answers - three strikes - they're out: they lose all their money and he kicks them out of the cab immediately. It's a fun show. Anybody here ever watch it? |

Yep...Watched that episoe last night.
I knew they were going to do whell when their destination was the library, and one of them was wearing a bow tie. They all looked like quirky professor types... And whaddya know...They were. Fun show! Gwyd |

I like it. They picked up a young black couple once on a date and he asked questions and the woman just rampaged through them, never missed a beat, they won a couple grand. The guy date just stared at her amazed, and she was getting tough questions not soft balls.

Truly one of the Greatest Feel Good moments you can experience in New York City. I have been watching since it started and Love it. I love the way the people are surprised a little at first, then a little skeptical. Then it turns into a great cab ride experience. I also love at the end when Ben Bailey turns to them with cash in hand and says, Ok I can give you the cash or you can go double or nothing on a video bonus question. The people always get this look like, Ok, I knew there was a catch...
But then they go for it - and Win! They leave the cab dancing! One of the best shows on TV. And it really shows off NYC, which I LOVE, BTW. Discovery is perhaps the Best channel! Since I was in the Navy, I also love Deadliest Catch! I was a Boatswain Mate and I would be working the rail if I were on a Crab Boat! Great Show!!! |

I've been meaning to ask you, are you the same Justin Style who use to be in San Diego? The same name and now the Navy reference...
I'm a deadliest catch guy. Until people are on a ship and on both sides of you the rolls are above the deck you are on you won't realize just how small you are and how big the ocean is. I've never been to NYC and watching that Cash Cab drive around those narrow streets I find interesting as heck. |

As soon as we pulled into the driveway our new across-the-street neighbor came over to ask if we had the cable TV turned on yet: the Dodgers were playing the Yankees in the World Series, and we're in a canyon so you cannot get any TV reception with rabbit ears or even a roof antenna. Unfortunately, the cable company took at least a week to get the service turned on. |

I like Cash Cab a lot. Not all of his questions are easy. That's what makes it so great.
My favorite show is Mythbusters. Seems they go out of their way to pick a myth that involves chemistry experiments or explosions that can be ramped up to the max. My favorite explosion of all time was when they blew up a cement truck...almost nothing left of it! The confederate rocket was pretty cool too! So, what's your favorite mythbusters episode, explosion, experiment, etc.?
Magic! The quicker picker-upper!

Give me a shout when you visit NYC, I'll give you the tour. If you are fit and in shape, we can do it by Bicycle. Justin - |
