Signs is a killer movie. I am thinking of doing an effect around it theme. Any ideas?? My concern is that for some of the effects people must see the movie to understand. like having a E.T. with two fingers missing.

Haven't seen the movie, so don't know the 'take' on crop circles. I do have a wad of notes labelled crop circles, however, with effects ranging from Copperfield type specials stuff, to my usual, impractical fare. And one or two more intimate things. I will eventually get round to posting some of this, if you want it, but I'm working on other things at the moment, so it might be a while.
Without killing the plot, is the 'twist' interesting? I loved '6th Sense' even though I twigged early on, and was quite taken with 'Unbreakable'. If you haven't done so, watch '6th Sense' again, and marvel at the subtle ambiguity of Mr Willis' performance. This is one of those pieces of popular art where 'knowing how it's done', as it were, doesn't detract from your subsequent enjoyment. If something is strong enough, it can survive disclosure. And interestingly enough, when people really enjoy something, as with '6th Sense', they seem less inclined to blab the secret. Lessons there for us magi, I'd argue. Regards, Caleb Strange.

On the subject, I agree it was an excellent movie.
Not an effect per se but well worth considering is the Crop Circle Readings method in Kenton Knepper's "Weerd Enough". There is a kind of prediction included but it's primarily a readings method. A pretty unique and fun one at that! Regards, David. |

Kenton Knepper has a routine in one of his books regarding crop circles. His is the only one I've seen published so far.
