For the tricks using soft coins, you want them undented, unmarred, and just worn and not bent. The coins HAVE TO slide over each other easily and also stay stacked when moved around no matter how they are stacked. Though not perfectly flat, they do need to offer a smooth plane and parallel faces... IE flat rims and faces but enough intended detail to trap a nice amount of darkening dirt so the coins don't look like discs.
BTW... do not polish them if you want them to seem like "money" or "old coins". Shiny=new. Even OLD gold coins have a nice deep tone unlike polished gold which looks like a gold colored mirror.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

J.T. I was refering to how to find them in a coin shop easilly ,because the term soft coins means nothing to shop owners ,I`m suprised to find out the technical term they use there, I hope it helpes some of you looking for them at your local shops .from your slogan "to all the coins I`ve dropped" as I do myself our coins will get very cull. LOL LOL 2 of my old walking Libertys are showing some battle fatigue in the past months of practice

It can take some time to get what you need. (At least where I live).
I make frequent trips to my closest coin dealer. They probably get tired of seeing me. I'm always either replacing a lost coin ($10 a pop, two coins short right now) or trying to find a better coin. They charge me $10 for what I buy (Morgan dollars) and give me $8 for what I sell back. About 75% of the time I leave with nothing. At least I'm not their only pest. Their is another magician (whom I don't know) buying Barber halves.

My local coin shop is selling old British pennies back to the turn of the last century for 6p (3 cents) each. Nice and worn and, not too hard to make up a set with the same date on them. Good for Gadabout coins.

Lester. I have trouble finding "cull" half dollars. I'm most interested in some that are really quiet...4-5. What are the price on such coins and where could one find them?

The shops here keep boxes of "culls" which they save up until they have enough to send to silver brokers to be melted down. Some call them culls, some call them scrap, and some call them bullion coins (because they have no collecible value, so they are only worth the current price for silver bullion)
If they sell them to you at or near bullion price, by weight, they still make out, as the older silver coins were approx. 90% silver, but they are still a bargain.
Woke up.
