I've been practicing the muscle pass and I am proficient at it. I love using it for a lot of Shoot Ogawa's coin routines I learned on the Cultural Exchange DVD's.
I was just wondering if any of you have gotten blisters from doing it so much. I guess it's because I do it 50 times straight without taking breaks. |

Whe I first learned it yes, not so much anymore, but if you do it 100 times in day I imagine you will get a blister. Nothing too serious though.

I just started. Still at the painful stage. No blisters yet, but it's leaving a nice red welt on my palm at the end of the day.

I figured it's normal.. my 50c leave a nice green circle as well... I got the classic palm stigmata :-P
How did you develop muscle strength for this? I can barely make it pop like the dice in the game Trouble. I can make it jump at like 1 ft if I push my thumb with the other hand... but then it's not a muscle pass anymore. |

I'm just guessing.
Do your coins have milled edges? Maybe they dig into the skin. I have been doing a MP for many years. I use Morgan Dollars (and occasionally Ikes) but I never got blisters? You can over do it too, you know. It's a muscle. Imagine if you went to the gym to bench press (Pick your favorite weight) and did 50 reps without taking a break? Don't hurt yourself... |

Do you do it with coins or poker chips?
Poker chips can be a bit of a nightmare but nicely rounded coins are a bit better. You are right to practice over and over again but, as with anything you should know when to stop. If it hurts or if it is causing damage (blisters) stop. Do something else and come back at it aother day. We all suffer for our art but there is no point in suffering unneccessarily |

I remember those days when I practiced a move like a million times. I wouldn't worry too much about bruising yourself. Take a break from it once in a while and allow the hands to heal and they will be stronger next time you do the muscle pass.
