I've just gotten started in using sales letters. In the past I've always just let word of mouth take its course. But now, I'm booking a lot more shows with direct mail, both via snail mail and email.
I know that I should send out letters for Christmas shows in October, Library Summer Reading programs in January, and school shows in either May or August. That leaves me with a few months with nothing to send out. Any suggestions for the other months of the year? I've been sending to Day Care/Pre-schools, churches, and restaurants when there's no special occasion to send for. I'm just trying to get more organized (then again, I've spent more than 40 years trying to get organized with no relief in sight yet). |

While I don't do this myself, I know several magicians that send out newsletters.
These always have some information that the end user can use (does not have to be magic) or a few jokes or interesting stories. It also gives information about you, your magic & places that you have performed. Yes, it is a sales letter with information letting them know how in demand you are. You don't have to hit them with a hammer to drive the point across that they should book you before the date is gone. It also keeps you in their thoughts when the need arises. |
