Does that mean we "all" will be able to purchase the video Rannie? If it does that would be excellent!

Well.... Selling was never my agenda. I would have to do further research first if ever. At this point, I am almost certain that I wont be selling the "UBSF". I would at the most share it with the working pros and some trusted friends. I don't know yet. I am doing some more developments. Now.... it ain't that easy. There is some work to it. When I get some clearance, when its perfect...and when I get all the right people to credit......and I am certain I am not stepping on someones work....I can't say. You obviously get a shot at this Ray! You know that. Hang in there buddy!

Geeze, I'm sorry Rannie, when I seen you write that you were going to send the video to the Godfather I assumed you meant to put it on his web site for sale. I know it is real hard work to produce anything like that for sale to the public. I didn't mean to put you on the spot, but I wouldn't have any qualms purchasing a video if you ever do decide to offer it.....

It is used to describe a visual coins across as oppposed to the Kenner version called Three Fly. All versions of Three Fly are VCA's but not all VCA's are Three Fly's. I'm not sure you can patent a plot. So to answer simply... no. 3) I am not certain how you do it so I cannot comment there. 4) there is no law saying you can't hold coins that way...but I did patent THAT so you owe me some money- LOL 5) Yes we have the right. I'm not sure about obligation but I enjoy tinkering with effects to improve them. 6) No you aren't. You have been very clear about that even in our PM (thanks for being so gracious BTW) This whole issue has been going on for a few years now. I'm not taking sides but now that the routine that started it all is in print and with research and dilligence the inspirational manuscript can be found, the cat has been let out of the proverbial bag. |

Ya I love the 3 fly effect. I have my own version (more so based on Ramsay) which I acknowledge by the way. But Jon anytime someone says they have a new way of doing it you start blabbing and C***. Its BS, your a great man for coming up with the "effect" but I can guarantee that most versions in the past 10 years(ish) are not close to your "handling" if it was then credit is due. Does it hurt to say where the effect originated.?. No.. I'm just more so stating what JTW said. Its just stupid and a wast of time and space, that could be better spent... Rannie good job.

I like that Rannie is exploring methodology for the basic effect. And his recent videos do look very good.
But as to this foolishness about making comment on something without having done the research... it simply does not speak for much interest in conjuring beyond seeking petty acknowledgment for trivial and trite works. If you want respect for your work you must begin by putting it into perspective of prior art. Without that you have no foundation to make a claim and will leave others without a foundation upon which to build. Quote:

While everybody is entitled to have an opinion, the published record speaks for itself on this matter. Of course half rimmed shells, flippers etc were explored way back when. It just happens that the version of the trick I wanted to show Dai Vernon was done using the coins I hand onhand and was rehearsed for a couple of folks who like what they saw enough to forget to keep it secret. Monkey see, monkey do is fine if you wish to treated as a monkey. Do you want a banana or some respect as a person? Your actions announce your choices. Still aping instead of reading? That's not being "inspired", it's asking for a banana. If had read the article you would by now have tried the trick in context of the three ball routine and been thinking about how to use the ideas elsewhere in your magic. If you want to be inspired, go watch someone like Sawa do a trick and then look at YOUR environment and see what gets your imagination fired up.

Thanks Rannie! No matter what, I still say this is a killer routine, no matter how it is done. I think most people would agree. What I like the best is how you end so clean, after what you have done it just seems impossible.....

Just checked it out. Another great one! Now I know why most people at the tavern prefer to do coins rather than cards lately... hehehe

JT, you say a lot of good and interesting stuff there in your last post. I see where you're coming from and totally understand. But my mom used to always tell me something about the things I would say...She'd say there was nothing wrong with my logic or thought-out opinions, but everything was wrong with the way I presented it. So, basically it's good food but no one won't eat it because of the way you throw it out on the table.
JT, oftentimes you come across as speaking down to people, you sorta scold them, even belittle them from your perch. I know you don't mean to, but it comes out that way often enough. Perhaps you don't realize it as such. I didn't know Dai Vernon or study deeply upon Ramsay, but I have raised two sons. And I found out that what my mom once said is as true as true can be when you're trying to get them to do what's right and what's best for them. No matter how right you are, people never like being made to think that they are being forced to do anything; physically or intellectually. When I started to truly understand about catching more flies with sugar than vinegar, then my boys were more open to good instruction. Just the other day I slipped back into my old ways in saying something to one of them, and instantly I saw the defense mechanism and fight start to stir in our conversation, and really the kid was as wrong as two left shoes. Luckily I caught myself early on. I adjusted my tone and began to listen more rather than talk and eventually the waters calmed and I was able to point out a direction with no need to push & pull him that way, just because it was the right way IMHO. The subtle differences between instruction and guidance can make all the difference in the world sometimes. Anyway, just my 2cents on it. Sometimes being a bit too smart is a bit too much, even when you mean well. There is a real purpose for the word "finesse." It's not just about knowing how to do something right but moreso about how to get that thing done not simpy by your energies but conjunctively by other's energies as well. Have a great day and glad you liked that David Stone vid .
