I am learning how to do a tulip twist but every time I try to pull my finger out I pop the balloon. I am not sure exactly what I am doing wrong as I have tried holding the balloon in a different way each time.
Any advice to get past this hurdle? |

Push it in just a little grab on the out side the reinsert your finger.
Some people lick their finger first. Ewww..... File your nails smooth.

I can usually get my finger out without popping it. You may want to give the balloon a squeeze at the knot end before doing the Tulip Twist. This will soften the balloon a bit and allow the balloon to come off your finger easier with less pressure. Another thing that you can do is lubricate your finger before doing the Tulip Twist. Sometimes, more for show, I will stick my finger in a bottle of drinking water and say I need some lubrication before I do the Tulip Twist. Some twisters will stick their finger in their mouth for a more primitive form of lubrication. My best advice is to make sure the balloon is slightly softened by squeezing the balloon a little bit. You don't want it too soft or the Tulip Twist will not hold. The other important thing to remember about the Tulip Twist is to grab the knot and make sure that you twist the balloon before the knot so that the knot is behind the Tulip Twisted bubble. I hope that makes sense. If I am making something that I want to last, I will take a scap of balloon and tie it in around the balloon and right before the knot, cutting off the excess. The Tulip Twisted bubble hides the dirty work.

You could coat your finger in Teflon .....
Of course that leads to the age old questions of ....... Non stick coating on pans.... how do they get it to stick to the pan? |

Thanks for the suggestions. I was able to get one to stay in place without popping on me today! Time to keep working on it.
