I`m going to get a eye & ear full of magic history tomorrow. we planned a trip to the American Museum of Magic in Marshall Michigan. How I learned about the museum was my friend had me trim some trees for him last month. He gave me a tour guide of Calhoun county Michigan he received while visiting the town. & he pointed out the article on the museum to me since I`m getting into magic as a hobby.
The tour is by appointment only, so we called them and set up a tour for 4PM Sunday. Looking forward to seeing what they have, and will let you know how the tour was. Chuck Posted: Jul 16, 2007 8:39pm The visit was very nice to the American Museum of Magic in Marshall MI. The tour guide was well spoken & shared many things on the history, especially Blackstone that was from that area. They have interesting things, like products that had magic toys in them, Rice Crispys, Tide soap, even McDonalds & Burger King kids meals with magic toys too! The Dixie Cups with magic info/tricks on them. Even a box of Dunkin Doughnuts cereal! There are many props, illusions and antique magic sets for all ages. Many of the items were handmade by the people that put on the shows. The milk Can that Houdini used was there with a big banner with him on it was in the center of the main room. I liked the tool shop they had in a trunk that opened to a work bench complete with a vise for repairing the illusions while on the road. One of the last things she pointed out was a poster (I think it was a magician named Ron) that she had us try to find Houdini`s name hidden in it secretly. To her amazement I found it! Visit the museum & find out for yourself where the name is, and see all the other neat magic items on display. For us it was only a 2-hour trip to see this place. Well worth the trip. If you are ever in the Boston area, you need to go to Watertown and see Ray Goulet's Mini Museum of Magic. It is amazing!

I visited the museum in Niagra Falls many years ago. Unfortunately, I understand it burned down some years ago.

If you mean Ray Goulet, he was at the Collectors' Weekend. We got together a few times to chat. I'm a transplanted Bostonian, now living in Kansas, and one of the things I really miss is going to Ray's Magic Art Studio. A great guy and a great place.
