Joe Porper sells a silver dollar-sized brass Okito box.
Michael Skinner considered it a failure of the magician's imagination when strange props are rejected. In his hands, the Jumping Gems became piano keys that were given to him by Liberace. It isn't difficult to justify an Okito box in your presentation. |

When I performed professionally back in the 70's, I had the Okorto Box set from Johnson. I did that routine, and it rocked! I still have that set. I also have three Buddah Boxes from Chazpro. A regular, a Boston and a Slot. I also have a quarter-size Buddah.
I have them look it over thoroughly, and then s****h it when they hand it back. A little time delay, and the thing is performed. I've never had a problem with "strange object" in play. It's a brass coin box. What works for me, is doing a Coins Across first, in the hands. THEN bring out the box! That makes it seem MORE impossible! Doug |

There is a new "Now You See Me" movie coming out about magicians robbing banks. I think a LOT of good coin box patter can be created with reference to it. The coinbox can be a renewed modern prop. The box is a vault and the magician will steal the money out without ever opening it up again after the money is locked in it... etc.etc.

S.E.M. (The Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) is a sun and moon routine unlike any other. Limited to 100 sets, here is the promo:

Besides all the wonderful full routines discussed with an Okito Box, using a slot box for a simple vanish of a marked coin that winds up in some impossible location is an excellent adaptation of this principle.
The fact that you can do "the move" and still handle the closed box freely and both hands are very obvious empty makes this a very powerful ploy. Julie |

Looking for your pill box opens many funny lines: it could be containing pills for stage fright, viagra, mint for your breath... It's a very commonly accepted as an object, but it's introduction has to be justified. Why is this such a big problem. Furthermore, pouring the pills from the box subliminally expresses that the box is empty. It also offers some possiblities like the little cork in John Ramsay's Cylinder and coins. We are pretending to solve impossibilities but it seems that we stop at the first most simple obstacle: it's just a pill box and it's normal and more refined to have one rather thean pulling out a pharmaceutical packaging. The only slight difficulty comes later in connecting the coins to the box, but if the coins disappear, the first place that the audience will anticipate will be the pill box (why would it be there otherwise).
