Ok so this other thread got me to thinking. "What can I do to help the Country and or the Military?" I will not enlist again. I've been to Iraq once and have no pressing desire to return. But what I can do is this. I can be there for the families of the deployed service persons.
I have come to be aware of an organization called Operation Homefront. They are out of San Diego Ca. USA. San Diego has a very large population of Military personal. What this organization does is helps out families of military persons in need. If the waterheater needs to be replaced, volunteers help to replace it. If the car breaks down volunteers repair it. Etc.. Etc.. I think that it would help if we just took a few minutes to be available to help where needed. Maybe you live in Indiana and 2 blocks away a military reservist has been deployed. You could offer to shovel the snow for his/her family. It would free up the remaining parent to get other things done. Maybe you work at a movie theater and could get some complimentary movie tickets to give a family a break. If you own a business maybe you could volunteer your services on occasion to help out a family in need. If this interests you and you would like to find out how to go about helping, a very nice gentelman named David in San Diego is trying to get a program worldwide started. Please e-mail him at VJEditor@San.RR.Com or Visit the website at http://www.Operationhomefront.net Or just contact your nearest military base and inquire how you can help. I know I intend to help where I can. I hope to see others do the same. Please post any additional information you may have and or stories of how you have helped. Thank You
