Barry's new shop- all 4000+ square feet of it!- is now open in Rockville, MD! For those of us in the Washington DC area, this shop is amazing. Barry's showroom is enormous, and chock full of stuff. It's incredible how much there was packed away in the old shop, and how it expanded to fill the new one. There are books, tricks, lecture notes, manuscripts, stuff that hasn't seen the light of day in years, stuff that's out of print or out of production...
Barry, Susie, Joe, and Greg (and Frankie, the Wonder Dog!) have pulled off a Herculean task to bring an amazing resource to life in Rockville. There's also a 40 seat theater for lectures, shows and meetings. If you haven't seen the new shop yet, you are in for a treat. It's on Nicholson Lane, just off Rockville Pike, less than 5 minutes off the Capitol Beltway. Congratulations, Barry and Suzie!

I'll definitely make plans to visit next time I'm passing through the area.
Sounds like an impressive place to spend some time. Is there a website for the new store? Mark. |

Right now they have just posted an announcement on their web site, but Susie told me they are in the process of completely redoing their site, so there should be pictures available soon.

The new shop is easy to find, too: If you're on Rockville Pike, or Maryland Route 355, in Rockville, Md., simply turn onto Nicholson Lane, on the same side of 355 as White Flint. Once you turn onto Nicholson Lane, you can easily see the shop on the top of a small shopping center. There is plenty of parking. This is a great new location for Barry's Magic Shop, so come on out and support the new shop! Barry's remains the only brick-and-mortar magic shop in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and the closest brick-and-mortar magic shop for Northern Virginia and Western Maryland!

Just had the pleasure of helping to inaugurate the theater at Barry's, when Rob Sevin performed. He was making an audition tape for a television opportunity, and needed a venue with a live audience, so a bunch of Barry and Susie's friends provided the audience, and Susie did the videotaping. Great show, with some startling mentalism.

As an amateur still learning (mostly) mentalism, it will be nice to visit a brick and mortar shop in my area.
