Has anyone tried the Passport Deluxe PD-500 yet? If so, what are your comments?

I would consider the JBL EONs or the Mackies if you're considering this.

All of the Fender Passport Sound system products are excellent. The 250 is very powerful and can handle most venues.
I can't think of a venue where the 500 would be necessary, except maybe in a football stadium. Also consider the weight of the unit. Dennis

Dennis, the weight of the PD-500 is a couple pounds less than my PD 250.
I really don't need the 500 (250x2) watts, but the features are great. I was really hoping Fender would model the new 250's after the 500, but they missed the boat. Also, since the PD-500 weighs a little less than the old PD-250's I was hoping a new 250 could weigh substantially less. I mean with a smaller power amp and smaller speaker magnets it should be easy to do. The PD-500 has a built in digital effects system, more inputs, and it has more control for each input. As a musician all three are all very desirably. One of my biggest gripes about the PD-250 is the single tone control on each channel. The 500 takes care of that and then some. Also the VIP feature that I never use is not present on the PD-500. Had Fender made a new 250 exactly like the PD-500 (only with a less power and a little less weight) I would have bought one in a minute. Regan

I just had my 250 cranked up full in a large banquet hall with about 250 people. The sound quality is nice but I could have used a little more power. My advice to people is to get twice as much power as you think you will need.
I also have a Liberty system from anchor audio and wished I'd gone with the Extreme. |
