Greetings,
I am interested in learning more (and by more, I really mean ANYTHING) about balloon tying. I have one animal I can tie, and that is about it. But, I am constantly in situations where this would be a helpful tool. I am curious about basic books that are good, but not so elementary that you can finish it in day (bang for your buck kind of question, I guess). I am also interested in resources around Gospel balloon routines. IS there anything good in this area? Thanks much. And if one has a book or two, or other resource they want to part with, I would be happy to talk about a purchase. RevJohn |

Here are a couple of links for you: Books - http://www4.mailordercentral.com/tmyersm......dept=123 DVDs - http://www4.mailordercentral.com/tmyersm......dept=240 http://www4.mailordercentral.com/tmyersm......dept=227 Both of these guys do a great job in covering the basics of twisting. Ralph is more of a pioneer in gospel balloon work and Sam has some nice routines. They are helpful in generating ideas for Gospel balloons. Gospel ballooning can be approached much like Gospel magic - from many different directions. My particular approach is to use different parts of a sculpture to illustrate a particular portion of Scripture, and then assemble the whole thing at the conclusion. My presentations are called - "Scripture, Sculptures & Surprises!" I have found that people really remember the Scriptural principle(s) easier when being able to connect it to a visual reminder. There is MUCH that can be shared, explored etc. regarding this topic. Thanks for asking a great question. If I can be of further help, please feel free to ask. peace, phill

Phill,
Thanks a bunch. This will be a great start in exploring this field. I figured there had to be more than doing a balloon tie to make a fish... John |

Balloon twisting. When I saw your interest was balloon tying I thought "hmmm....how many ways can you bring a nozzle around and through?".

You mean you blow them up before you start shaping them? Dang... that is my problem.
Been learning from Steve Martin all these years. Seriously though... thanks for the correction of terms. John |

Many people swear by Captain Visual's book which has basic twisting information and is broken down by themes depending on the month of the year so you can stretch this out for 12 months if you wanted to.
http://64.227.60.208/newstuff/04-01-07.htm#Captain "Balloon School" from Pengiun Magic is great at getting you started and having someone show you how to do the things. I really learned a lot from that DVD. http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=940 If hats are your thing, you can't go wrong with "Bad to the Balloon." I only have volume one (sorry Mark - for the time being I assure you) and it is great. Easy to follow and the twisting menu is a great thing to have on there. PM Bad to the Balloon here on the Café to purchase directly from Mark. |
