I'm fascinated by misdirection and was wondering if you knew of the best DVD material for this. I don't mind reading but I'm not mechanically oriented so I like to study it...do you all find the best way to learn the fluidity of it all? Thanks for your thoughts.

Tommy Wonder's DVD set. He goes in depth and even gives you effects to practice with where the misdirection is paramount to the final conclusion. His books are also wonderful for this reason. I highly recommend both (one set of two DVD's, one set of two books).

I think a great resource is Rafeal Benatar's Cups & Balls DVD. He goes in to detail on
misdirection theory and in particular a topic on In-Transit-Action that can be incorporated in all phases of magic. I learned a lot from this DVD, well worth it. David Paul

MagicBrent,
I unreservedly recommend Michael Vincent's "Tapestry of Deception". Just an amazing video on misdirection. See: http://www.magicofmagic.com/ Originally a single video, the video was so well received that Michael expanded his instructions and now the "tapestry of Deception is a 3 volume set. I'm only familar with the material in volume 1 but, if volume 2 and 3 are anything like volume 1, they will be absolute killers. Volume 1 is one of my all-time favorite videos. First time I saw it, I sat in stunned amazement and ended up watching it a total of 2 1/2 times in that first session. Hope this helps. Mike

These aren't DVD's, but are books/pamphlets that have great discussions about misdirection: Darwin Ortiz' "Strong Magic" and Al Leech's "Don't Look Now."
The Ortiz book is available at most magic shops, the Leech pamphlet is available from Midwest Magic, click HERE for more info. SETH

Not a DVD, but Gary Kurtz's "Leading with your head" is good for this. Also, David Stone routines very nicely with misdirection, specifically, using an effect to misdirect from another dirty bit of business.

As mentioned above, "Leading With Your Head" by Gary Kurtz is simply a must-read on the subject of performing with misdirection.
I received a flyer from Stevens Magic Emporium yesterday that advertises it is again available in limited quantities. If you do not own this manuscript you are missing out on some of the most powerful & important material on the subject. M&S |

I looked if Tamariz has put something on misdirection on DVD. It seems he talks some about it here:
