I was curious if anyone else out there is having the same problem with this effect. I do,by the way,own the original (half dollar, centavo). The "new" version has the golden dollar and a new style quarter. My problem is that everyone I perform this for (which is only good friends and family at the time)knows they are not holding a quarter at the end of the effect.I bought the new set because I thought it could have some very interesting patter. The golden dollar has never really caught on in my area and I thought about starting by saying something to the effect that the mint had to quit making them because they have a tendancy to...etc. I've thought about using a different quarter (bicentenial seems to be the only chose to me right now or perhaps a Susan B. Anthony dollar)but, would love some other input. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, what have you done with it? Thanks in advance!!
In December of '06 I was diagnosed with a very rare cancer, Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans. One in a million people worldwide are diagnosed with this type of cancer annually. Sarcomas account for 1% of all cancers. Knowledge is power!

How about leaving them holding an old style quarter?
You could try some patter about how it's getting harder to find the eagle quarters, but you like them better so you magically changed the new one to the old style... or it changes on its own in the hand of someone patriotic... or intelligent... or beautiful...or... ??? I use Peter Marucci's ungimmicked version and I use a gold dollar and a new quarter and an eagle quarter. I tell them that the eagle quarters are getting harder to find and when they open their hand, it's changed to a new quarter. Your's would just be the opposite. A Susan B. Anthony dollar probably wouldn't work because it's the same size as the gold dollar. Hope this helps. |
