Get Docc Hilford's "E'voque". It's better than all three. IMHO, the best book Docc's ever released. He's refined everyone else's work on the subject, and put it all together in a simple system.

Jon Racherbaumer wrote an exceptional article on Equivoque in ANTINOMY magazine. Not opnly superbly written but thorough and very educational. I can't recall the issue number.

I second Gabelson's suggestion. Docc's book is great on the subject. A very simple system.

It's ok if you like a principle cooked up into AN APPLICATION of it, but if you want to understand the principle and all of its many shades and subtleties, with many possible variations and with all of the basic rules you need to know to present a successful Equivoque - no matter what and how many the choices are - I find that nothing can beat - Phil Goldstein's Verbal Control. David Berglas' open disussion on Equivoque (in his Mind & Magic book) and many other hints you find it said book. Alain Bellon's The Hidden Choice (One of the best essays on the Equivoque steps and "hidden" rules). Jack Dean's The Equivoque Choice is also worthwhile of a reading because of the many examples of Equivoque applied as a part of many different routines.

Maybe it's because I've seen Docc lecture on E'voque, but I don't see the problems with it that you do, Paolo. I've used E'voque for near twenty items before, and I know that with a little work, I could use it for near a hundred. Yes, maybe Docc could have gone more in depth for when more objects are used. When less objects are used one simply need to leave out the first parts of the script. I've used E'voque for thought of objects, forcing a card, coins, etc.
With that said, I still think the other sources should be studied. /paul.f |

Paul,
I said it is standard and - forgive me if I say it - nothing new to me. I did not say it is bad! Especially when the choice is between learning a script (like in E'Voque) and perform the worst possible ever Equivoque (something transparent to all people except to the magician performing it!) BUT, I am always in favour of studying AND understand different structures, and more important, the various principles behind the thing - rather than learn a script by heart. That's why - but it's just one of the examples I could give you - Alain Bellon's THE HIDDEN CHOICE essay is a goldmine of psychological eye-opening rules for the most powerful Equivoque process!

Paolo where it Alain Bellon's THE HIDDEN CHOICE available? I too am interested in the workings of Equivogue rather than just a script.
The WHY's are more important to me than the HOW'S.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've decided to go with Docc's E'voque and Maven's Verbal Control.

Good choice, I have seen Doc perform E'voque in a bar and have used it myself in some of my close up and shows, it can stand alone, but it is better to blend it in.
