There's a third volume of Naked Mentalism on the way... Very interesting. Are the first two volumes a must read for the understanding of volume 3? However, please keep us updated! |

The third volume references the previous two, but not to the extent that you need to have read them. Much of the new work is about psychological techniques that enhance effects. There are also new Naked effects, a section on how they're developed and the usual miscellaneous scribblings.

For my scope and research, Naked Mentalism was incredibly useful. To each his own.

Just some useful details:
202 forces is free from TLP and other sources. It is out of copyright so copy away. Banachek was financially poor when he invented his own techniques. He obviously was not poor in terms of creativity. He was not, therefore, denied access to mentalism. Arguably that helped him develop strong and original material. I'm not saying that being poor is a nice place to be, though. Having lots of ebooks that you don't read thoroughly or digest is pretty pointless. A full hard disk will not help with the creativity that is required for inventing and performing. IMHO the argument that it's OK to pirate copyright-protected material because you have more pressing financial concerns is not a strong one. I want lots of things I can't afford. I either save up or do without. I am not owed them by life so I don't go and just take or copy them. IMHO those who make said arguments are probably trolling. Not always, but it's such an emotive subject (and the position of piracy is one that most people on here will profess to disagree with, at least publically) that it always causes my troll-o-meter to twitch. Just to clarify for anyone new to this thread, the last two posts above are responses to some posts that have now been deleted. I thought I'd mention this as my post looks a bit random and migwar appears to be criticising me

I would not think is it an "either / or" with both NM & PS. Both are quite excellent and the buyer knows full-well what they are getting with each before a purchase is made.
While "mostly" perform my own material, I have though so much of the Naked Book Test that I have made "flash cards" for me to study (owners will know what I mean) and once I have it memorized...someday....I will have something that will be, well, near, if not, perfect. Bryn

Apples versus Oranges?
As mindhunter said, both are great. |
