Hey short and simple-
I would like to get a DVD with the 3 fly effect in it. But i don't know much more about it apart from some use shells and some don't... so please be patronising on where i can find this effect on DVD and what it uses. I know this topic has been covered but i was confused on whats the best explanation of the effect and where to find it. Thankyou Davé

Troy Hooser is the only person that has a DVD of him performing the effect to the best of my knowledge. The best source is Ckris Kenner's book which unfortunately is out of print. Paul Wilson has a nice handling called 'Crowded Coins' it is actually based on a Gary Kurtz effect from his book
"Unexplainable Acts". Do you understand the basic plot? If you don't I'm sure someone here can explain it to you. If you do my suggestion would be to spend some time thinking about the effect and possible methods. I would suggest working out your own handling. I believe the rewards will be greater that way. All the best, Jason |

Doesn't Paul Wilson's Knockout video have that version of Three Fly (which I don't think has any gaffs)?
There's one on the first Palms of Steel (definitely gaff-less). Garrett Thomas has a really fun one that is quite gafflicious, yet probably one of the prettiest, no nonsense versions (the effect occurs so fast, it almost needs a repeat--but of course the routine functions best within a context of other coin manipulation ala Kurtz's "Trio" from the book cited above. |

Paul Wilson's "Knock Em' Dead" is also now available in DVD format.
I would say that if you were looking for the best version on DVD, my personal preference is Paul's. Yavid, if you don't want to limit yourself to DVD, here are the most common sources available for the routine: Chris Kenner's from "Totally Out of Control" or "Magic Man Examiner Vol. 1." Paul Wilson's from his video "Knock Em' Dead" DVD or video. A few versions in Troy Hooser's "Destroyer's" book and "Total Destruction" DVDs. Doug Brewer has a version in his book, "The Unexpected Visitor" Curtis Kam's from "Palms of Steel 1" Daryl's manuscript "3 Fly III" Gary Kurtz' from his book "Unexplainable Acts" and video "Creating Magic" Bob Kohler's Ultimate 3 Fly David Neighbors's "Super Fly" from his Japan Lecture Notes |

Hello,
If you want a look at the effect, Denis Behr his a clip on his website: http://www.magictrick.de/ just click into the coin section and then on one of the two handlings of 3fly. There may be a DVD on this routine in the works. hope this helps, Jonathan Townsend

There is another DVD out there by Nate Kranzo ("Out of the box") which uses three different coins (another varation of the 3-fly, where he uses a Morgan dollar, a Chinese brass coin and a copper coin) and he calls it "International 3-Fly".

Rumor has it that there is a DVD in the works dedicated exculsively to the theory, history, development and variation of the "Visible Coins Across" plot, now commonly known as "Threefly".

I think Denis was using a version of Kenners. I am not sure but some of the coin transfers looked Kennerish. Hope this helps.

Maestro,
The moves and ideas you saw in that clip were being developed by Geoff Latta and yours truly almost twenty five years ago. This kind of fingertip stuff started with David Roth opening up using the retention pass and edge grip mechanics on the Ramsay material. Between Geoff's 'Nowhere Palm' and some edge grip stuff that still has not hit print, the option to do coin magic out at the fingtertips was realized. Please have a look the rest of the material on Denis Behr's site. His card and coin handling looks very good. -Jonathan

Yes, I had a look at some of the other clips on his web site. Like I said, I loved the three fly, especially because I hadn't really seen one before! It must have been an incredible challenge to make coin magic that visual. It's definently a great achievement.
I haven't seen everything on the site yet, but I was especially impressed with the waving the aces . |

Anyone check out the anti-faro? It looks unreal. Is it for real?

I'm having problems downlooading the video. However, I've seen Christian Engbloom do the Anti-Faro. It is a very difficult move and looks cool.

The anti-faro was published in genii a while ago. Can't remember the exact issue. The only problem is that it isn't 100%. As far as the 3 fly... very cool. I am still a Kenner fan though.
