I've been trying to come up with a copper/silver routine that is natural to me and I have. The thing is that I was doing it to use the Edge grip, but after working it out I have no need of an EG, in fact I've simplified it to the point that I use a finger palm for most of the trick. Has anything like this happened to the rest of you?

SP, I used to use fingerpalms to do things but found that the Liwag Subtlety is a much more expressive and freeing hold in my copper silver work with my Crimp Change Routine. Sometimes you learn things on a basics level and what comes out of you, through you is something else, and that's OK if it works. Seems like it's working for you, so go with it. It might be taking you to one of those creative roads less traveled. -Mb

I use finger palm all the time....well most of the time. It is IMO a very natural looking palm. It looks like the natural position of a relaxed hand. There is so much freedom of movement. Grips inspire me to create but I usually try to see the effect in my mind ...then try all the moves I know to simulate the effect till I find one that would make the transitions easier and smoother. Sometimes a grip is effective but it does not get you to the next position you need. I think you are doing great Paul. The beauty is that there is no right or wrong way to do it. The simplest way usually works.
Best of luck Paul! Rannie

When working on a routine I sometimes catch myself using 'proof' moves like EG or JWG displays when an FP will suffice.

This happens all the time to me. I find myself saying that move is'nt convincing enough or it doesn't fit....ect
If this is happening to you then your really thinking about the routine not just the moves. Keep up the hard work!!!!! Tim

To answer your post, you are not crazy.
We as magicians must remember the principle "The closest distance between two points is a straight line". Applying this concept in magic, we must go for the simplest method that works for BOTH the audience and the performer. Best wishes.
