Hello all:
Could someone please tell me which of Darwin Ortiz's books contains his thoughts on using faro shuffles to set the deck into Si Stebbins stack order? I no longer own his books, or I'd look it up myself. I'm just writing something that needs to reference his work. Many thanks, - entity

I learned Six Hours to a Memorized Deck a while back and found it very easy to learn and keep memorized. Great for doing John Born's version of ACAAN.

Si stebbins secret, is something I use, any time I have a new deck, or one in factory order, and if I had to pick just one thing, from Darwin Ortiz, this would be it!.

As At The Card Table is currently out of print, Darwin's Si Stebbins setup is explained on At The Card Table vol2 dvd. For those that don't have the book I would imagine that the dvd is the only other place where you can learn this

Did yo know?
Its possible to discover the identity of a card at any position with a Si Stebbins System Stack: The Rules of Four. Its four separate formulas to find any card named in the deck. Almost like a memorized stack. Info from this ebook: http://www.trickshop.com/stebbins.html Tip. Allan Ackerman has a quick way to Faro Shuffle a deck into Si Stebbins order in his DVD: The Faro Shuffle, Vol 6. |

You can read some pages of the book "Si Stebbins unplugged" on the books' section of Google:

It sounds like Darwin Ortiz and Allan Ackerman both have ways of getting into the Si Stebbins stack from new deck order, both of which involve using Faro Shuffles. I was shown a method a couple of years ago. I have the instructions (steps), but every time I try it, I end up getting at least one suit out of order by a couple of cards. I want to post the method I was taught, but I'm not sure if it is OK to share it or not because I did not learn it from either of the 2 magicians who published the method. The method I learned may very well be the same one as one or both of their methods. All I'll say for now is that it involves moving a small number of cards to the face of the deck, then doing 4 separate overhand shuffles, then 2 'Out' Faros. If anyone reads this, is it OK for me to post the entire method that I was taught, so someone can tell me what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks, -Tony |
