I posted a message yesterday about some sponge pumpkins I purchased yesterday which I want to use at an upcoming Halloween event. Basically I want to change a few sponge squares into the sponge pumpkin, the final reveal being in the speactators hand. Any suggestions on a sequence of moves to accomplish this? I was trying to routine it last night and the best I could come up with was to to pick up my 4 cubes in the right hand as one unit and supposedly transfer them to the left(actually retaining them with a retention vanish. The Pumpkin would already be loaded in the left and I would allow some of it to "show" once the supposed transfer was made to keep their eyes on the left. Reach into my pocket for a "magic pumpkin seed" which I bring out, ditching the cubes in the process. I then hand the pumpkin to the spectator, which I tell them to hold tightly. The do a little french drop with the seed and "throw" it toward their hand and ask them to open their hand and reveal the pumpkin. Any suggestions on the sequencing of moves, specifically with the sponges? I thought about getting them out of my pocket and retaining one at a time, but the bulk of the pumpkin really limits my hand motion and the ability to grab with it without it popping out. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There are a number of ways to do this, but a French drop would not be in the top 10. Why not use the principle of the growing sponge ball - two methods come to mind - to do the ending?
Also use the sponge ball to cube only in reverse to make the pumpkins. You will have to carve these yourself. Use an electric knife and be vewy, vewy careful.

In the July, 2004 issue of The Linking Ring, Henry Holava presented his Holava's Cups and Cubes Redux. The effect used 6 - 1" cubes with only three known and finished with 3 - 2" balls. He uses 3 different colored aluminum tumblers. Not having studied the routine well enough, I don't know if the tumblers colors make any difference. If you can locate that issue, you might be able to adapt the routine.

Thank you for the advice. I'm not really looking to make anything myself for this (the sponge ball to cube idea. I already have the pumpkin and am simply looking to "transform" some small orange cubes into the pumpkin. Sponge balls are not my most in depth area so I was just looking for a sequence of moves to accomplish the affect. The french drop was simply an idea to vanish the pumpkin seed and I just thought it made it a little more "magical" plus gave me a way to ditch the squares in my pocket. I look forward to hearing more feedback from you all, as I know there is a lot more experience in this forum than I have.
