This is my preliminary review of Modern Classics DVD with Paul brewer produced by Random Magic.

From the Advert

Be amazed as you meet Paul Brewer—a magician recognized not just for his illusionary skills, but for making laughter appear with each classic trick. Paul has been working his magic on audiences all over the world for more than 30 years. He starred in stage shows and improvisational acts at Salt Lake City’s premier indoor amusement venue, and with his lovely assistant (and wife) Jodi, the pair headlined 1,600 sold-out shows at the Lotte World Adventure theme park in South Korea. Today, Paul performs hundreds of shows every year, playing to audiences that vary from small family celebrations to huge corporate gatherings. See Paul’s true magic come to light through these six classic tricks—and through his friendly audience interactions. By making the human connection, Paul gets the laughs. And by watching him perform, you’ll get the picture.
With this DVD you get
Professor's Nightmare,
Money magic ( bill and coin switch),
Six Card Repeat,
Red and Blue Deck,
Hole Egg
and a special bonus each trick each is done is Paul's own special way. They are performed in the studio and as a bonus live settings so you can see Paul at work.

NOTE: it also contains a Hot rod performance+ expl;

Tech facts : DVD is 1 hour long.
It is well shot . The Performance and Explanation are done in someone's living room. But the are no issues with sound or lighting or camera angles.

My prelim review:

This is a "good" DVD. The effects on the DVD are classics the are no new unheard of effects on this DVDs. But that is its strength. Mr Brewer is avery clear speaker but succint in his explanations of the performed effects. The camera work showing the secret moves was well done. Unless I missed a section there is no crediting on sleights or the originators of said classics. The real strength of the DVD is his LIVE performances of said classics. THese can be found in the extras section. He is performng for middle school kids (tuff audience). Mr Brewer brings a fresh ,contemporary and family friendly patter for his effects.
There is nothing earth-shattering on this DVD execpt for the blue/deck routine and Hole egg which are standouts.
At the price it is being sold for ( I paid $7 bucks new ) it is a must have.

I noticed that the last post lists Magic4less as a source for the Modern Classics DVD. I did business with this company once several years ago. I sent them a money order for a FISM Flash, cost approximately $67. Magic4less contacted me after they cashed my check to inform me they no longer stocked the item. When I asked for a refund of my money, I never heard from them again, notwithstanding the fact that I sent them several threatening letters demanding a refund. I eventually gave up on them.

No, I haven't seen it. It may be quite good. Just haven't heard anything about it.

I have a copy. I haven't had time to watch the extras but did watch the performances and most of the explanations. I agree with the original review.

$7 is kind of pricey for a beer coaster. Does a warning buzzer sound when the beer gets low?
