I ordered Ammar's Topit DVD and I haven't received it yet. I know topits are used to cleanly vanish objects and show both hands empty. Do any performers use topits in their cups and balls routines? I think it would look impressive to cleanly vanish three working balls and then reveal the final loads.
Also, are topits strong enough to vanish cups? I think in a routine with only one final load, it would be cool to vanish the two empty cups and then lift the third cup to show the final load ball. |

Cellini has or does use a topit. It's in one of his Art of Street Performing dvds.
I believe it would actually be strong enough to vanish a cup. Although you would need some good misdirection. Devyn |

Matt,
I have been using the topit as well as my sleeves in my routine. I'll try to find a clip for you. As for the topit being able to take the cup...? Yes they can. Have a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGSTOVZg-k0 Rannie PS You wont do wrong with the Ammar Topit video.

I've been told that Rannie can ditch a medium sized heckler using a Topit!

Ammar vanished a full plate of food once, just to prove he can.

Thanks Pete and thanks Richard! I have not taken a video of my new C&B routine. I use the topit to ( openly) switch the cup to a solid cup in the end. I of course vanish the balls one at a time without the aid of the cups. It's incorporated in my patter. I'll try to post a video from my live performance soon. Meanwhile.... I hope Matt has found what he was looking for.
In my opinion, the vanish of a cup would make more sense if it were a chop cup. Symetrically, it might look odd to have 3 cups then 2. Well.... of course I have not seen your entire game plan so I may be wrong. I certainly hope my opinion about the vanish helps in any way. Best from Manila, Rannie

Matt,
You will need two topits to vanish two cups, otherwise they would "talk". Andy

Jay Scott Berry has a wonderful topit. It's made so you can't overshoot it. People who have topits know what I'm talking about.
When he was demonstrating it for our magic club at a lecture, I gave him my watch and said "Do you think you could vanish this?" He did. Then I told him to look at what kind of watch it was!!! He was kind of shaken, but I told him that I had faith in him. He was working on a floor that was linoleum over concrete.

I have a custom made topit in a jacket. You can vanish things to the topit and take them out from the left jacket pocket. (the outside pocket).

I have Carl Cloutier topits on both sides of my jacket with access from the outside pockets. I tried it with the cups (after my earlier post) but too much bulge.
Then I thought why not vanish the loads instead after producing them? Is this gilding the lily?? Maybe so. All this was in practice...not performance. Andy
