Yep, those would have been the same 3 books I'd have said - but Tony is the fastest eye in the Café.
I will say Magic Curios, Lebanon Circle and House of Darkness are great resources of items to go along with seance materials... ... although some cross into spook show versus seance. Not the top 3... but some of the books of Cameron and Sheil contain a lot of effects that blend into seance settings. I think also I started a thread a long time ago here on doing seances without "overt" effects and the luminaries here all contributed a lot of good ideas... Although the reason I posted the initial thread was being inspired after reading Burger's Spirit Theatre and thinking of doing sooo much less for soooo much more with just darkness and setting without the nead of doing anything but psychological prompts...

Brother Shadow's Have Seance, Will Travel is a great source for this kind of seance. It is all suggestion. I have done one event along this line and can state that a very powerful experience can be created for the participants with no gimmicks. It is a very different species of performance and requires someone who really knows how to communicate with a group in order to pull it off successfully.

And the best thing of all is - there is no way the seance can be "busted" as it's all in the participants' own heads. hee hee
Good for small intimate seances.

I would like to suggest the movie 'Seance on a Wet Afternoon' with Richard Attenborough. At least we found this particularly helpful in grasping the mood we were chasing. You won't get any effects out of it, however. Also, Michael Fraughton's The Dark Waltz is wonderful. Do a search here on the Café for it.

Thanks for including Bigger Book of BOO! on the list. Also Scott still has a few of the original first editions of the bound Seance.
