Assuming you were playing for a small to medium audience between 40 and 300 what is your preferred method of testing/selection and why?

1. Handlock on the entire audience with an invite to those locked to come up.
2. Tests on entire audience such as fingers or light/heavy hands followed by an invite to come up.
3. Test on entire audience such as fingers/magnetic hands/heavy light followed by handlock.
4. Invite to come up and tests on those who do.
5. None of the above - if so what?.

Obviously the selection procedure is an opportunity to ensure this early part of the show is entertaining as well as ensuring those who have the potential to be your stars make it on stage. What else do you thinkc an be achieved with this phase of a stage show?
