Would sure appreciate some help in the proper way to pronounce this word. It is not in any of the dictionaries or articles I have searched in. I now know how to make a shrunken head, but don't know how to refer to it! Smile Thank you very much!

I believe the "Ts" should be pronounced as a "Z" as in "Tsar". In Transliteration to "Tzantza".

Pronounce all letters. The a is pronounced, as in "aaaah", but the sound is not drawn out. Accent on first syllable.

"Santa" siice the first "T" and second "S" are both silent ;-)

And remember, SANTA is just an anagram for SATAN!

And shouldn't all of us have a shrunken head in our collection named Santa?

Chris

P.S.--I don't have a shrunken head named Santa in my collection. I just take the one named "Bob" and call him Santa for my Holiday shows.

Thank you all. I knew I could count on you guys. Yes, Dr., I do plan on performing your routine; it's brilliant. But tonight I have a gig and I wanted to use Higley's shrunken head as one of the items in the usual DM routine and I just wanted the right pronunciation. You know, in case there are any Jivaro in the audience.

Well...have no fear, my heads are not exactly Jivaro correct anyway. Smile

Don't forget to recite the poem, "A Visit from Tsanta Claws" as you display your shrunken elf head (which should also be the smallest head in your collection).

I read that "Jivaro" is a spanish-derived word, originally used in the 1500s, which roughly transliterates into calling the natives dogs. The main tribe that shrunk heads (in that vicinity) is the Shuar.

They were the only tribe to ever successfully revolt against the early Spanish invaders. They took a governor, known for his thirst for gold, and poured molten gold down his throat, until he was dead.

That's rich! I used to do a trick with a golden finger (severed from the hand of King Midas - everything it touched turned to gold) but that's another story.
