Johnson uses aerospace technology so the quality and precision is second to none. The only real advantage to the custom sets is the exotic coins.

I have a tango set and it works well. Alternatively you can go with Mark Mason's its about $100 I think for walkers and uses and english penny instead of centavo. I agree some of those copy centavos look like crap. johnson is good for the price. The csb is such an amazing gaff though (do you have Jeremy Pei's DVD yet?) that buying a nice set could be seen as an investment.

I love Todd's Solid C.S.B. set! You get the best of a 2c./1s. and a C.S.B. in one set!

The Lassen, Johnson and Schoolcraft sets "fit" well, but the ins**t on the Schoolcraft set is thinner than I like. The Sterling set is old school, so isn't in the same league, though I love this set because it has served me well for 30 years.

I have a Tango set and it looks good and works well - I have absolutely no complaints with it.

I cannot find any Silver-Copper-Brass sets at Johnson other than the basic set with the clad Kennedy Half and Mexican 20 Centavo. TBH, I have never seen Johnson's silver collection at their site either. Are they hiding it? I see no actual silver coins there at all.
Anyone know the secret to find the silver at Johnson's? Thank you. Jim PS- BTW, Schoolcraft has apparently entered yet another "under construction" phase at his web site and most products don’t seem to be available; definitely no CSB sets there anymore. I think that site has been "under construction" for almost three years now... |
