Well since this forum is Rings, Strings, and Things I'd like to post about this 'thing'!
Anyone else have it (I know your out there!) I just got it today....it's a lot harder to use then I thought. Any tips or suggestions? Maybe some stories to share? Thanks! Chris |

I've got "Rocky". I admit it!
Rocky's easy to train, just make sure you have lots o' treats. Munchie, munchie, munch! Make sure that you don't wear black, he tends to shed some. Cheers!

Hi,
I have it too! Larry Mahan has written a book describing the technique for using spring animal puppets. The title is Spring Animals Your Friends for Life. And also a video, if I'm not wrong. I hope this help you! Ups sorry!! Larry Mahan didn't make the video, but Steve Kirchner does. The video's title is Spring Animal Teach-In. Regards |

I have a story from today....
I took Rocky into Costco today. I was in there for about 20 minutes. I had about 30 or so people stop and just stare at me. A couple people followed me. Out of that 30 people I had about 12 people give me really dirty looks (people just don't know how to have fun I guess.) I also had a few people actually come up to me and ask if it was real. And all I was doing was holding him and wagging his tail and that's it! Chris |

I do a bit where Rocky is sooo bad he gets locked in my case. His tail hangs out, wags a little, and then just hangs. People ask me about animal cruelty. Just go to a nearby park and watch and listen to people with their pets. Rocky is a very different kind of pet, but some of the same rules apply to one's actions and words. You can be one of many different types of owners, but remember the old joke: Pets act like their owners (or vice versa!)

David Williamson performed a whole routine using Rocky on one of the World's Greatest Magic specials. It looked like it was, in fact, real. I was amazed at his handling of the spring animal. He did a great job.
If they ever re-air it again, make sure you tune in. I think you'll get a kick out of it. Jon |

I believe you can catch David's whole Rocky Routine on his video "Sleight of Dave."
Money well spent. |

I am about to purchase my third Rocky. I really enjoy using it. The 1st one I had lost in a fight with my cocker spanial and my second one just wore out. It can be a great ice breaker. It took some time to get him to act real but unless someone just spends a lot of time close up, most people do think he is real.

I have used Rocky for about 15 years now.
Even adults like him! We get good laughs during his tricks and imitations. Then, he helps me with the zigzag illusion to music. The biggest tip I could give regarding Rocky Raccoon would be... In order for others to believe in your act you've got to believe in it yourself. Talk to Rocky like he is real. Believe he is real. You've really got to be an actor! People react well to that.

Just keep Rocky constantly on the move, looking up and down and wagging his tail etc. and pat him every now and then with your free hand, it all tends to add to the illusion that you are holding a real, live, legless racoon.
An excellent tape was going around once by Jim Pace, it had lots of gags and bits of business, I'd strongly recommend it if you can track it down. Cheers Billy |

I used to have Rocky but I got rid of him. His tail fell off twice, it was horrible.

Steve has Rockys cousin, Flower she's a skunk, kids love her.
There is nothing that remains so constant as change. Don't end up like concrete, all mixed up and permanently set.
