Hi Marc,
I'm very happy to see that you're guest of honor this week. Here's a question for you: When you decide to add a new item to your repertoire, what's your process? Also, how often do you add new material to your working repertoire? Best, Mike

Hi Mike,
Adding new material is tough. If it's a close-up effect, it generally has a quicker chance of getting into the rotation. I will try out something new when it's about 80% complete and run it for 3 shows before deciding if it deserves the final polishing. If it's yes, then it takes another year before I think it's really ready. For stand-up stuff, the process is usually a bit longer. That being said, I added three new stand-up pieces this year and resurrected two older ones. The hardest part is usually the script. Sometimes I've gone through complete changes of storyline before it was finished. You have to be willing to "kill your children" for the sake of the total show. Marc |
