That could indeed be true or, in the case of Lost, people may have got tired of the number of questions that were being raised and not answered and the feel that the whole thing was being made up as they went along. Couple that with characters who behave like complete idiots ( do they want to get off the island or do they just want to fight with each other for no good reason) and there are other reasons for not watching Lost other than mental ineptitude.

And on the experience of Lost I wouldn't mind betting that the question around "what is Cloverfield" probably won't be answered and we'll get little resolution in the film. I'll be interested then to see how the movie going public take to that concept.

As for cloverfield, I can tell you where the creature has come from, what the conenction with slusho is and why the main character is going to Japan in the trailer and I have not seen the film.

You just need to work a little.
