Have any of you used the Piatnik range of playing cards for magic?
They where used a lot in the UK a few years back and had a glossy finish on the cards which did not make it easy to take Roughing very well. I still have some packs including a nice marked deck, and marked ESP cards. I am just interested.

I used Piatnik Cards early 80s, they are great for most card work. Many magicians in Europe use Piatnik.
Nice design. http://www.piatnik.com/index_engl1.htm |

I went through a phase of using Piatnik cards (and still use their ESP, Number and Alphabet decks occasionally, those are the ones seen on my DVD's). Great quality and a wide range off gaffed cards can be supplied including Rainbow decks.
The cards are bridge sized, slightly narrower than poker. Not so easy to obtain in the USA unless you are willing to order abroad - which is no real problem these days. Paul. |

Piatnik are available in poker size and handle very well. A bit thicker than Bikes, with a smoother finish. They look very elegant.

Good question!! I don't recall having much success in splitting Piatniks, but I'm sure I tried years back. Perhaps someone else had better success.

Hi Everybody, thanks for all your replies
I did not realise they where used so much in the USA. Regards the splitting its a matter of Yes this one will or this one might,it does depend how many times you want to try splitting,in the end they do make a nice shim. I do think the size makes it easy on the handling, my hands are not to big for the Bicycle poker cards, anyone else with the same problem. Anyway I hope you all had plenty of fun and magic for the Christmas period , wish you all a happy New year. A

How do people find these cards for doing a Faro? I find them hard to do, and the edges get nicked easily.

I have one of the special Hofzinser card sets that they make. You might still be able to get that from Hocus-Pocus or other places. It's a great set of cards and one that you may find very usefull if you're looking for DF, BF, or DE cards...

Since several years I use Piatnik cards for parlor and table magic. They are very good to handle and the gaffs directly from the manufacturer are perfect. When ordering all you need in one delivery it should be so much stuff that they have no problem with direct delivery - so you can get the retailers price... I like them more because Bicycles are very often recognized as "Magicians cards".

Piatnik blank decks are much cheaper than Bicycle blank decks in the UK for when you make your own tricks.
