I own a booklet on hypnosis by "Calostro", I would like to find some information about this person. Any google searches come up with links back to the book or sites in different languages.
Was he a famous hypnotist? Who was he? Thanks for any info, The Feegee mermaid. |

The book, ENTERTAINING WITH HYPNOTISM is a novelty booklet on the topic. It is currently published by D Robbins, but was originally published by Calostro Publications. My guess is that Calostro was a pseudonym for Ralph Read, as the only books that I know published by Caostro Publications in the 1930's were of were his and Jean Hugard's.
One of Read's other books was the 1934 booklet, The Calostro Mind Reading Act. Tony |

Tony seems to have the most reliable answer, but I figured I would just throw the name "Alessandro Cagliostro" out there. Not sure if it relates in any way, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Great point! My guess is that Alessandro Cagliostro is who Read based the name on. Who better in the 1930s? Cagliostro was historical, mythical, and a character in popular literature, a name based on it would be instantly identified and recognizable. |
