I don't believe anyone has ever found the elusive 3 inch barber...

Does anyone know if some Morgans are about 2 inches big but are real? This guy was selling some coins by the bank today and he had Morgan dollars, Peace, Eisenhower, all kinds of coins. I saw the large Morgans and I asked if they were "real" and he told me that they made them that big for some time. Is this true? He was selling everything VERY cheap and the coins looked beatiful. He wanted $5 for the large 2 inch Morgan which he stated was a regular coin. Anyone know?

If the coins were real they would have said .999 pure silver on the back and would run around $30.00 each. More then likly they are large replicas of the regular coins. But for that price I believe they are the nickle ones that run around 4 to 8 dollars but the morgans are not easy to find so so I would grab one just to have on hand any way. Post the pic when and if you get one. Make a deal 5 for $20.00

Saw a beautiful giant Silver Eagle copy, 16 oz. of .999 silver, what a great "clunk" that would make! I was tempted to get it, as it would also be a great match for Walking Liberties, but this soon after Xmas, I don't have the $200+ they wanted for it.
I have also seen one that was 4 oz. .999. I think I will pick one of those up if I run across one.
Woke up.

I did not buy the coins. Now that I think about it I should have. If I see that guy at the bank again I will buy them. They looked very real to me. When I flipped them you can hear the sound a regular coin would make. He said all the coins were real coins so I think they were.

Here's a site with lots of nice jumbos, no Barber though...
http://www.jakesmp.net/Numismatic_novelt......s_M.html While looking, I did find this site, they have rings made from Barbers and Franklins, I'm thinking about how I can use something like this... http://www.fabric8.com/bazaar/product.f8ml?PID=LC0104

I got to admit, that ring is one of the coolest things I have ever seen, I'm definantly ordering one.

That's weird ,i just ordered a deans set in barbers and the dates are the same as the ring..look real nice.
p.s I know you can select a date , but that did surprise me...oh well I'll have to wait if I want one ,spent to much on coins already lol
If you put the time in....you will achieve ...

Being an artist myself I have tossed around the idea of sculpting some nice jumbo coins, 4”, 6”, 8” probably using pewter. Years ago I searched high and low for large coins for coin routine finales. I was able to find a nice 12” Morgan and a beautiful Indian Head penny that’s 6” x 1”. I had both nickel plated because I was using them for a silver dollar coin effect. They were one-of-a-kind I have never found anything like them since.
I wonder of there is enough of a market to justify the time and work in crafting them? Steven |
