Local Looney Ian Vanderschuit passed away recently, my friend Tony set me the video he made of him in 2002, it was for a personal project and was never intended to be shown to anyone else, I convinced him to share the world (or at least the Café) of what a great strange man he was.
Ian suffered from delusions of granger, he would lie and lie to you and you'd love it, one day he'd tell you he won awards in France for his near perfect harmonica playing, other days he'd tell you he trained Muhammad Ali. A jack of all trades and a master of none, Ian S was a great busking performance artist, and one hell of a lier. I was lucky enough to get to know him, heres a few minutes (8 and 7 seconds to be precise) of why we'll miss him. When he busked he wanted more than pennies, he wanted real big cash, he was actually quite wealthy, he wanted people to donated hundreds of pounds and in reward they would get something very special he told me. I never got to find out, maybe it was his soul. The man you see with him was a random person he met prior to the filming and he fell in love with his cowboy hat and hair he got his own. He liked to model his image on certain people that he met. He then incited him into his world for one day, which he did quite often. R.I.P you big weirdo. My Eulogy to a great character. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doci......hl=en-GB |
