I was filming a short film last January with Michael Pritchard and during a break he had asked me about some of my magic. The main camera was still rolling and the 2nd camera man had just turned on his camera to get ready for the rest of the shoot and caught this spontaneous bit on film.
I was actually NOT performing Prohibition to entertain. Rather, I was explaining what the effect was by doing it for him. We were even going to use this as a promo last year but decided against it. In any event, Steve (the director) pasted this up for me so I could show it to a few friends & family and I thought I'd share it with you all. Points to consider: While the end of the clip does advertise Jeff's website, I'm pretty sure he's just about out of them (last I heard he was down to about 3). Steve didn't edit the clip. I know I'm breaking a rule by repeating the effect over and over again, but this was for a friend "in the know" and not your basic spectator. I found it quite interesting, however, that the repeats in this case seemed to have only made the effect stronger. His reactions were priceless. I recommend, however, that you do not do this at home (lol). enjoy, charlie http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseactio......25751130 |

The reaction was priceless Charlie! I bought Prohibition 2 or 3 days after it hit the shelves at Hollywood Magic and have more fun with it than any adult male should have with his clothes on!
I also agree with my mentor, Trans-Switch is wicked cool! Mick |

Classic Charlie!! Totally loved the video!
Against the norm I did the same thing once during a party totally surrounded. It just so happened that people were coming in from the outside after smoking after the first performance and missed it. Then I did it again. Afterwards those people ran outside and grabbed everyone outside smoking and brought them in to watch. At this point we are probably talking about 15-20 people standing around me now and I performed your masterpiece again and the entire room erupted into chaos. I don't think there is anything else out there I have had more fun doing for people than Prohibition at a party. I can never really thank you enough for putting this out there for me to learn =) --Jim |

Well, Prohibition is deadly.
As far as repeating it, you can. In fact, I feel it's the type of effect that gets stronger. Why? Because it's their bottle and...their cap. You almost can't get away without repeating it because it seems so impossible. The DVD is a must have. To see him in a live environment freaking people out is pricelss. The cap clearly goes through the bottom of the bottle.

The reaction I get from this effect is "What The F." I let the bottle sit in my hand for a few seconds after the magic happens.and then let them take the bottle from my hand.I never liked the concept of the cap in bottle.but this is a brilliant effect to perform.I find that people have no concept of how it's done,to the point where I find it's uncomfortable for them to look at the bottle after the effect.I can't do this effect enough. It's just a great routine!
