Peter Marucci shares this little packet gem on page 111 of January's LR. Though not new, it is quick, impromptu, automatic and magical. Two things to ponder: The spelling procedure always sets the chosen card to a certain position. Are there other, stronger revelations? And, mathematicians, can this be done with packets of different sizes? Enjoy!

There are lots of variations on this about (Jim Steinmyer's Nine Card Problem). A favorite years back was a Peter Duffie variant that was intended for doing over the phone (think that was in Hidden Agenda, but cannot find it to check), Ken de Courcy's 'Bamboozled' and most recently Paul Gordon has several nice thoughts for it in his last book "Card Collective".

Another place to check would be Solomon's Mind, by Dave Solomon. He has a trick in there called Steinmyer's 9 card trick done with 7 cards. Depending on how you present the trick the deck of cards can be in the spectator's hands the entire time. I recommend this highly.
Just something to look at,

And best of all (at least for German users): there is a version, modified for German language, that's far more easier to do and it seems logically impossible! check intermagic!
