Channel 5, tonight, 8:00pm - 9:00pm
"Documentary following accountant Ben Pridmore in his bid to become the World Memory Champion. The film follows Pridmore on a journey from the UK to Germany and Bahrain to compete against 'warriors of the mind' from three continents. Along the way, he encounters an array of eccentric characters, including a blue-blooded Austrian Count, 'mind guru' Tony Buzan, and a latter-day Renaissance man who lists 'inventing a new colour' as one of his works." Inventing a new colour? Blimey! |

The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use the words.

If it turns out to be rubbish, don't blame me!

It wasn't rubbish in fact it was quite amazing, certainly in the way a shuffled deck of cards could be remembered in 26.29 seconds, making it a new world record. But it was a pity Bill Pridmore from the UK came second overall in the world Championship finals.

Not a bad show, some of the UK competitors looked abit geeky, loners, unemployed etc, as opposed to the German Dr, who was rather flash, big house, nice car!
Good to see Dominic O'Brien on the show, still the main man in my opinion and was nice to know the competitors were using his Journey Method when competing. Would love to know Bill's method for remembering 2 cards at once! Would be good if "Daniel Tammet" entered the competition, he would wipe the floor with all of them though lol. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4913196365903075662 |

Wasn't the mountain climbing, egg drinking, sheep herder punching guy - he seemed much more like a spoof movie character to me........

I really felt for Pridmore when he managed to rush things and made a mess of even his favourite tests. All that work wasted.

By the way did you also notice that he seemed to have pinched Patrick G Redfords outfit.

Missed it, bugger!
Do five have an On Demand/Watch Again/iPlayer style thing? Last time I watched five it was to see if the Friends spin off Joey was any good... it wasn't!
